Hawks dominating since 3 minutes left in the 2nd. This is going to be a series, but way too many missed chances to win this game.

This is true. This game could be tied with the puck going 2 inches the other way twice.

Great period even though we didn't score. We might not win the game, but if we can play solid in the 3rd, we've proven that we can play with these guys. All we need is one of the 2 games in Vancouver to have the edge in the series.

What's with the Turco chants? It's not like they're destroying Crawford by any stretch of the imagination.

they are idiots. crawford has played very well since the first 10 minutes of the game.

Maybe that's why they're chanting "we want Turco"

Oh well. We outplayed them in the 2nd and slightly outplyed them in the 3rd despite the fact they went into a shell. I'm not convinced that the Canucks are going to run away with the series.

It really would have been nice if we could have gotten at least 1 goal though, just to give Vancouver something to think about between games.

Barry Rozner continues to astound with his stupidity:

In his article this morning he joins the knuckle draggers clamoring for John Scott.

In one part of the article he claims that “The Hawks — 15th in hits during the regular season — might need to think about dressing John Scott.” and called the game "nothing short of embarrassing."

However, in the same column!!! he says "the Hawks were the better team the final two periods, which bodes well for the rest of the series"

So let make sure I understand your point Barry.

It was embarrassing that he Hawks playing the #1 seed, President Trophy winning team who lead or nearly lead in every major category this year managed to control the game for 2 periods. So John Scott taking ice time from a player who has more than one aspect to their game would be less embarrassing?

My memory is a little fuzzy, but I seed to remember the Hawks winning something of minor significance last year relying on speed, skill and taking advantage of other teams having guys out of position trying to take a run at our skill players.

If we play like we did last night for the rest of the series, it's going 6 or 7 and I like our chances

I mostly agree with you, but last year's team could also get physical when needed to, especially the Vancouver series. If the other team started knocking them around, they could give it right back. For the most part they let the other team try to goon it up and then beat them with speed and skill, so you are right there.

I do wonder though if having someone flying around hitting Canucks could have stopped all the momentum Vancouver had in the 1st period a little earlier though. The sad thing is, Scott is essential worthless unless you need someone to take a 5 minute penalty. And only then, I'm giving him 30 seconds to instigate the fight before moving on.

Right. Scott doesn't fly around and provide any energy. He's not an Eager, Burish or even Fraser. He's a fighter. All three of those guys, while not offensively gifted, are good skaters and pretty fearless.

I try not to be a Wings fan that comes off as anti Hawks. I also really dont have a great rooting interest in this series, so I hope this doesn't come off as being a troll. If they keep playing the way they did last night the Canucks will win the series and the ice will probably tilt their way more and more as the series progresses. I absolutely agree that John Scott is not the answer, but they do need to do a much better job of not just hitting, but also finishing those checks. If they don't, this series will tilt Vancouver's way. Also, as a fan of another WC team, I do hope that the Hawks make it much more physically challenging the rest of the series. Even though the Hawks were better with their puck possession the last 2 periods, they never really stepped up the checking.

If Kopecky is out for tonight, I'm willing to dress Scott over Pisani. Yes, I realize that he's extremely bad at hockey. That said, he's a goon and a guy that would be willing to muck it up with Luongo.

We were outhit by a pretty significant margin on Wednesday night (go figure) and Luongo didn't really deal with much traffic in front of the net. At least Scott can do those things adequately. Pisani doesn't bring anything to the table besides being completey invisible when he's out on the ice.

Again, I'm only playing Scott because we don't have many other options out there. I'd dress one of the Rockford guys over either of those two clowns, but I don't think Q's going to do that right now.

No point in even playing tonight. Yahoo has us down 2-0 already.

Our series is actually first to 4 goals.

Canucks trying to beat the [expletive] out of us again.

Toews had a breakaway and was hooked from behind, but no call.

TBH it was borderline though.
