I like this trade for the Brewers. He has a career OBP of .367. Solid 4th OF off the bench for basically nothing.

What do you like about it for the Brewers?

Because we just traded for a solid bench player for next year with a career OBP of .367 for basically nothing.

I'm really amused how Edmonds just happens follow the Cardinals around trying to keep them out of the playoffs.

The best was when he was in the stands and used that mirror to reflect sunlight into Holliday's eyes during that playoff game last year.

[expletive], who do I root for now? Can Jimmy's presence outweigh the pure evil that is Dusty Baker?

Like someone said on here last week, I'm rooting for the Reds to win the Central, but I'm perfectly OK with them getting crushed in the NLDS.

Reds seemed poised to win the Central, and they very well may. Edmonds is a nice addition, especially with Drew Stubbs' late struggles. He certainly doesn't put them over the hump, but it is a nice veteran addition to have. But yeah either way, as good as the young pitching might be on the Reds, they are no match for the Yankees, Rays, Rangers, or Twins/ChiSox.

Or Braves or Giants. I have a feeling they might have a chance to get past the Padres though.

Are you saying you think the Reds are on their way to the WS?

The thing about the NL is now that the Phillies are mostly injured, theres really no 1 team that stands out as a dominant force. If the Cards, Giants, or Phils get in, their 1-2-3 in the rotation would each be tough to contend with, but at this point in time, all 3 are on the outside looking in. And I do agree that no NL team is ny match for the Rangers, Rays, or Yankees. Twins or White Sox, now thats a different story, but I dont see either of them beating the other 3.

Edmonds is a nice additon to the Reds, In fact, seeing Edmonds and Rolen team up to beat out the Cardinals might make this season almost worthwhile.

I'm really amused how Edmonds just happens follow the Cardinals around trying to keep them out of the playoffs.

It is pretty funny. And a really good move for the Reds. Plus it helps push this stupid idea that "BASEBALL IS BACK IN CINCINNATI!!!!"

it's miserable. i never thought i'd prefer the cardinals winning over the reds, but here we are.

It's worse when I (Cardinals fan) have to read other Cardinals fans talk about Cincinnati's greatness. The Reds have outdrawn the Pirates by 200,000 fans.

I hated Jim Edmonds with every fiber of my being when he was a Cardinal. When we added him, I didn't think it would work, to be honest. But, when it became apparent that it would, I changed my tune very quickly about him, as most here probably did. He was absolutely one of my favorite players during the 08 season. I think it's VERY funny that he keeps following and tormenting the Cards at this point. I don't care that he's on the Reds, I hope he sticks it to the Cards again.

I don't know, man, I really haven't heard many people talk about their 'greatness'. I think they're a 87ish win team, and will be for awhile, assuming their core guys don't explode. Just like when the Brewers were pretty good for a year or two, things come and go. I still have a fond feeling of rivalry for the Cubs, and I still hate the [expletive] Astros forever. In two years, the Pirates might even break .500, and I guess we'll hear some people say they are now our Rivals.

I admit, though, it was pretty stupid when FSMW did a live poll during the Cards game today asking who their bigger rival is right now - Reds or Cubs, and like 86% said the Reds. I guess I define "rival" as a team people genuinely root against, even if they aren't close in the standings. Not simply the 1 and 2 in the division wins bar.
