Fred reminds me of the engineers on the Titanic who were furiously trying to keep the power going right up until the damn thing actually went under the waves.

Does anyone really still care about this Cubs team at this point?

I hate this season...

Well...... I, for one, care.

As do I.

Same here. I mean, I don't know if "care" is the right word, but I love baseball, this is my team and I want to watch and I want them to win.

Well I guess I'm the same way because they are on my TV right now.

At this point, I care about individual player performances, specifially the young guys and those were stuck with for the next few years. As for winning or losing, Im all about getting the best draft pick possible.

Wow 5 walks in 2.1 innings for Z so far huh? Ted Lilly used to go a month without walking 5 batters

Walks are of little concern. Soon the pitiful Giants uprising will be crushed.

Someone please explain to me why Koyie Hill is still a member of the Chicago Cubs. He is too old to improve, he is not an elite defensive catcher and he is one of the worst hitters to ever live.

My hopes are that Robinson Chirinos, not Wellington Castillo, can fill that role next year.

I don't care if it's Chirinos, Castillo, Robinson, Clevenger, or Brenly. I want Hill gone next year.

Agreed, I'm in favor of any of them above Hill. Chirinos just happens to be my favorite amongst them.

I swear I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but does anyone honestly read Fred's worthless stats?

Actually quite a few do. You'd be surprised how quickly he gets pounced on the second he makes a mistake in those sheets.

They're entertaining, imo. Plus, Fred has eerily encyclopedic knowledge of them in person.

Some translate Fred's stats into scintillating cocktail conversation at the bar, then say a prayer of thanks to Fred's chosen god every night.

His arm slot is all over the place.

How has his movement looked? Is he having a night where his pitches are running all over the place because there is so much movement or is he just wild?

How about his velocity?

To me it just looked like he didn't have much control. Velocity-wise I don't remember seeing him hit above 91, but I could have easily missed it if he did.

MLB.com says he never got higher than 91 on the gun.

Not too much of a surprise his control was off after the "break" I guess and the velocity is not much of a surprise either, unfortunately. I wonder if Z will have the patience to really learn how to pitch now that he doen't have the stuff where he can make a mistake and still get the batter to miss because he has such amazing movement. It has never looked like he had much of a game plan out there, but without the velocity and movement he can't get away with that anymore and be successful.
