5 player trade between Arizona and Pittsburgh

 

Pirates acquired catcher Chris Snyder and shortstop Pedro Ciriaco from the Diamondbacks for infielder Bobby Crosby, outfielder Ryan Church and RHP D.J. Carrasco.

Pittsburgh also acquired cash in the deal and announced they are promoting starter Daniel McCutchen, infielder Argenis Diaz and first baseman Jeff Clement from Triple-A Indianapolis. As for Snyder, he'll share time behind the plate with Ryan Doumit once Doumit is activated from the disabled list. Doumit's currently sidelined with a concussion.

When I worked with the Mobile Bay Bears last season Pedro Ciriaco was the shortstop. He is an amazing defender with great speed, was routinely making highlight reel plays at shortstop and 2B... but he has no plate patience and is essentially Juan Pierre at the plate with a finite amount of pop. Think Ryan Theriot's 2009, but with better speed and waaaaay better defense. He's probably not a long term solution, but I could see him being a defensive replacement kind of a guy.

Agreed. contending teams dont trade quality starting pitching for nothing. Im going to take a hunch here that its for Corey Hart. After sweeping the Nationals, the Brewers claimed that they were "too close to contention to sell", but maybe there last 3 games changed their minds.However, Adam Dunns another name that comes to mind. teh Giants have been on the fringe of the Dunns weepstakes all along, and Sanchez is better than Edwin jackson.

dunno. The Blanco in question is Gregor, so Ankiel will probably be an everyday guy for Atlanta.
