I'll like him more if he is in London next season.

Hopefully the World Cup is enough for him to realize that he isn't going to play ahead of Xavi and Iniesta and he should stay put. I'm not an Arsenal fan, but it'd be a shame for a player like Cesc to be warming a bench.

do you think jones will ever play on the usmnt?

He was in Holland for the friendly and said he still wants to regardless of whether or not he'll ever get to play in a World Cup.

Although with this injury, it's a real possibility he isn't as good as Edu, Clark, Torres or Feilhaber anymore.

he's also older than all of them

How much of an addition would Davies have had to this team?

Considering we've gotten exactly nothing useful from the supporting striker spot, I would say a lot.

I think Davies would stretch the backline (something Findley does in theory), but would actually do something useful when given an opportunity. Findley has been fed some really great passes, but hasn't done anything with them, because tactically, his mind isn't fast enough for this level and his decision making is subpar. His speed then becomes less and less useful as the game goes on, because teams figure out he can't hurt you too badly. He's too tentative. Davies has the mental tenacity, decision making ability, arrogance and pace you want in a support striker.

If you want to play the hypothetical game, though, imagine Giuseppe Rossi, Neven Subotic and Jermaine Jones all on this roster.

We'd have a shot to win the whole thing. Hell, even with just Jones and Davies I'd rate us as able.

Davies seemed to have an instant connection with Donovan and of course Jozy.

I wonder what Rossi is thinking right now?

I'd bet we'll see him in next year's Gold Cup, unless his leg just never heals.

That will be for a spot in the Confed Cup right?

Yeah. We should see the full "A" side for that one.

Time to chear for South Korea.

I was thinking about it yesterday and we have a chance, however unlikely it may be, to get revenge on four teams in the knockout round.

Ghana in the Round of 16 for beating us in the 2006 Cup.

South Korea in the Quarters for making fun of Apolo Anton Ohno with the short track celebration in the 2002 Cup (it's the best I could come up with).

Brazil in the semis for beating us twice in the Confederations Cup.

Germany in the final for knocking us out of the 2002 Cup.

They have had chances, but that effort was pathetic. You have a 7 v 4 advantage defending your own goal and you let a weak cross hit an unmarked man at the back post.

We could also get into the Confed cup by winning the World Cup.

What the hell was the goalie doing there?

If you're going to come out on that, you have to get the ball.

That is an unbelievable shot, completely unsaveable. Holy smokes.

Wait, the Korean guy gets carded for that? The Uruguayan bodyslammed him.

That shot was amazing. Uruguay deserved the result.

US lineup:

------------------Altidore--------Findley-----------------

Dempsey-----------------------------------------Donovan

--------------------Bradley----Clark----------------------

Bornstein------Bocanegra-----DeMerit------Cherundolo

-------------------------Howard-----------------------------

I am not a fan of Clark over Edu. Bob must be concerned about Ghana's central midfield.

Ghana starting XI:

-------------------Gyan-------------------

--Ayew-------------------------Asamoah

----------Boateng-----Annan------------

Sarpei----------------------------Inkoom

----Jonathan---Mensah----Pantsil------

------------------Kingson-----------------

----------------------

Starting two right backs is one way to slow down Donovan. Too bad we have another great player on the other side of the midfield.

Stop Boateng and Gyan and we win.

Ian Darke, woo hoo!

Yeah, read that this morning.

Was anyone else's ABC 7 Chicago HD feed making a clicking noise during the pregame show but not commercials? Looks like they've fixed it.
