Does anybody know what kind of a prospect D.J. Fitzgerald is? I've been following him this year and last and he seems like he has pretty good power. He seems to DH a lot, so does he not have a position?

His IsoP hasn't been over .118 since he destroyed the ball in 8 rookie ball games, so I don't know how much power he has. He's interesting though, if for no other reason than there's just not very many guys in the system hitting right now.

Yeah, I thought he had more doubles but he is still hitting more home runs than most of the Cubs prospects but i guess that's just more of the Cubs not having any power prospects.

Huh, looks like the continuation of the suspended game out in West Michigan is going the full 9 innings. I wonder if the second game will follow suit?

I think they said the second one would go 7.

Well, looks like it went 9 in any case, as West Michigan broke the tie in the bottom of the ninth. :-))

His best position is 2B but Watkins and Cerda are going to play ahead of him there.

He played pretty well in LF in the continuation game. Ha and Guzman will keep him there as far as the OF goes. I'd guess on the current team, he's the only realistic LF option after Perez. DJ got smacked in the throat today with a liner. He was in the on-deck circle, and Watkins nailed him with a foul. He was on the ground for a few minutes and got up and finished the game, no the worse for wear. I think I got some video, and some pictures of his swing. We were sitting right by the chiefs dugout, and 6 ft from where DJ was hit. Both lineups were LH heavy today, so we didn't get as many pictures or video as we wanted.

And Suarez is a beast. 'nuff said. He, Bour, and Thomas are all listed at the same weight. Thomas is the most "fit," Bour the most Fielder-esque, and Suarez just looks like a Zambrano type body- not really fat, but not really cut. He pitched very well out of the pen (3IP), and sat in the 89-91 range, with his off speed stuff at 77-79. I'll give more recap after I have a chance to look over my notes/pics/video. Got a broken bat from Thomas today too, just wish I'd brought a sharpie to get him to sign it. Mighta made a great last place price in next years prediction contests.

Solid outing out of Rhee today - 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 8-3 GO-FO.

I haven't been able to track things as closely this spring. Have there been any scouting reports on Rhee thus far this year? I know his numbers look very mediocre, lots of hits and the poor K/BB. But have we gotten anything on his actual arm and stuff?

Perhaps two questions in particular:

1. What kind of velocity does he have these days? Is he an 85-90 type guy at this point? Or is he back to the 87-93 type range he was pre-surg?

2. His most admired pitch pre-surg, IIRC, was his splitter, which I believe was alternatively referred to simply as a really good change. Does he still throw that, and is there any indication of whether it's any good now? Or was the splitter thought to be responsible for his arm problems such that he doesn't use it anymore?
