This team is just one big joke. At least the 2006 team had plenty of excuses to suck. These losers are one of the highest paid teams in the league.

The manager doesnt give a damn.

the owner is enjoying the honeymoon stage of ownership and completely oblivious to whats happening

Ramirez needs to be benched indefinitely, I dont care whp takes his place be it Baker, Fontenot, or bring back Tracy

The starting pitching is good, but no staff is good enough to sustain this kind of offense

something needs to give, that is if theres anyone involved who gives a damn.

this team is just bad

You have absolutely no proof that that's the case.

I don't understand this type of complaint at all. What is Ricketts supposed to do? It's not like this team is just one or two moves away from being very good. Why should he fire Lou? He's gone at the end of the year as is and all you're doing is dumping the same crappy team off onto some other poor schlub.

What does this serve to accomplish? None of the other three offer anywhere near enough of an upgrade to justify benching Aramis, so you might as well playing him in the off chance he finally breaks out of it.

Yeah, I really doubt Ricketts is "oblivious". It's likely that he is just sitting back and observing from afar, but by no means does that make him oblivious.

Not 1 meaningful question in the post game. Man what a bunch of little bitches this media is

You called it. They really grilled him there.

It really is ridiculous how easily lead around the sports media is in a market this big.

Bruce Levine is at the top of the list. Every time I hear or read his comments, I feel like I'm listening to one of the team's PR reps.

So who we bringing up tomorrow?

I didn't watch the game, why would we be bringing someone up?

Probably a reference to Castro's 3 or 4 bases worth of errors.

Levine, Miles, Sullivan. it doesn't matter. All of them are scared of Lou

And the Cubs in general. Didn't they yank or suspend the press access of whoever got Lou to go off about Fontenot bunting earlier this season?

Hadnt heard that, but it definitely wouldnt surprise me. Lou got angry with them last year, and ever since they have all kissed his ass every day. They arent scared to talk [expletive] about Milton, or Soriano, but heaven forbid they question Saint Lou

I don't think his credentials were revoked, but it was threatened. Maybe it isn't the media's fault, when anything that can be construed as criticism results in threats from the team.

Even if it means getting himself into trouble with the Cubs, I really wish Miles would lay into both Hendry and Piniella in his column. I mean lay into them to a point that both guys are freaking embarrassed. In the case of Piniella, he clearly does not have the heart for it anymore, and thus he needs to Mike Hargrove himself now and enjoy retirement.

If nothing else, he needs to be pushed way down the lineup. I understand giving your star the chance to break out, but you cant keep your worst hitter where he is, especially when you have 2 better options in Soriano and Soto. Enough of Sorianos not wanting to hit in the heart of the order, hes been our best hitter for a few weeks now.

is really the answer. Lou wants to tinker with every piece of the lineup but where it matters

As much as we all want to see Lou fired, I just don't see it happening. Despite our criticisms of him, it seems like the majority of the fan base are either indifferent to him or still like him. I would be stunned if he took another managing job after this one, and I would be very surprised if the Cubs fire a high profile manager who is likely to end his career here. I'm not saying I agree with it, but between all that and them likely looking at Sandberg being ready to go I just can't see them giving Lou the boot before his contract ends after this season.

I don't think you're going to find anyone here that doesn't think Aramis needs to move down in the order. Personally, I'd run this one out against righties:

Castro

Soto

Soriano

Byrd

Lee

Ramirez

Too much overreaction. Ramirez 8th? What a slap in the face to probably our best overall hitter over the last 6 years. And now he has 5-6 bad weeks and he hits 8th or is benched? He's too young to be finished so all you can do is wait for him to snap out of it and ask him if he's hurt for some reason.

Also, as some have said, Lou doesn't need to get fired. There is no point. I agree he's making bad decisions, and I too am sick of his "what can i do?"/"go ask the hitters" responses in every postgame loss. But firing him accomplishes nothing. This team isn't good enough where shaking up the team with a new manager is going to do anything. Let him ride out the season, and send him of in the sunset amicably.

What? It's not like he'd be banished there forever. He's not some fragile little flower blissfully unaware of how bad he is this season. You can't keep a hitter THAT bad in the middle of your lineup. It effects everyone around him because the pitchers can approach the lineup knowing there's basically an automatic out waiting in the 4 or 5 slot.

Why not? Does it even really matter? I just think 6 weeks is way too early to be dropping him that far in the lineup. Hit him 6th fine, but 8th is just ridiculous IMO.

Edit: Although I guess I remember Torre doing that to ARod in a playoff game once, so maybe I'm overreacting. My point is that it's generally an overreaction. I agree it's testing my patience for him to slump this wrong, but he's obviously got a track record that suggests he'll never snap out of it. It's not like he just randomly got horrible over the offseason. He's too young to be declining at a rapid pace, so he's either hurt or he's in a really bad slump that he'll likely be out of soon.

I disagree on Lou. Im not saying hes the problem with this team, but getting a new voice in there can help things out. Even if its just moving Trammel to manager, and promoting Ryno to bench coach, at least itd give them something different. The players we have we are stuck with, so why not change the 1 place where they can, the manager. Lou has no answers, he has said just that, and hell look at tonight, 2 close plays on the bases that go against us, and he says nothing. Terrible strike zone all night long, and he says nothing. I know him getting kicked out isnt going to make them hit, but it sure would be nice to see something from him. Obviously what hes tried so far this year and last year hasnt worked, so bring in somebody new, and let them have their shot. Lou acts and looks like a beaten old man, who is out of answers, and is just there to ride out the rest of his contract.
