Thom Brennaman just reminisced about the great NLCS between the Cubs and Marlins in 2006.

Thom Brennaman broadcast that NLCS.

Almost as impressive as a 20 year old shortstop hitting a 3-run opposite field HR in his first MLB at bat.

Thom Brennaman broadcast that NLCS.

He is still talking about it. He also said that a grounder "went through the legs" of Alex Gonzalez.

What a prick.

Of course the Reds broadcast has found a way to mention the '06 game vs the Marlins. To Brennaman's credit, he mentioned Gonzalez's [expletive] up before going to Bartman

Edit for saying '03 instead of '06, should probably put the bottle down

i wasnt listening/watching to the game for the last 5 minutes or so... is there a reason why they're showing the bartman incident?

He's just excited that his viewership went up tenfold because of all the Cubs fans who are forced to watch him on Extra Innings.

Thom Brenneman is a self-loathing loser would be the #1 reason that came to mind.

But what brought it about was the trivia answer that Aramis was the Cubs' leader in hits last decade, prompting Brennaman to say that he would have guessed him or Lee...and then off he went.

the only reason he's talking about it is because tonight there are more Cubs fans listening to him than Reds fans.

Yes, we all hated Starlin a month ago. It was all over the boards. I'm surprised you didn't see it.

couldnt find a good way to search this, but is Castro the first MLB player to make the bigs born in the 90s? Christ, just typing that made me feel old.

What does he have to do to get some respect around here? I'm not saying he is going to be Alex Rodriguez tomorrow, but he WILL be the face of this franchise in 3 years or less. I know we are Cubs fans but have a little faith! Is it not possible to have a prospect worth playing in our mediocre (at best) infield?

Wait, what? He's not "respected?" You say "everyone loves him now" as if everyone hated him before his first AB? You're sounding delusional.

I think Castro is getting lots of respect. I also think it's foolish to declare the debate over whether he should be up over because he's had 2 great ABs to start his career.

I'd say the fact he's starting tonight has brought 20+ more people to even watch/lurk the game thread
