Probable Starters

Iowa: RHP Jay Jackson (2-3, 2.48 ERA, 29 IP, 5 BB, 7 K)

His line is actually: 2-3, 2.48 ERA, 29 IP, 7 BB, 20 K. The red flag, of course, would be the five homers he's surrendered so far.

And all 5 have been given up in Des Moines. Principle Park plays pretty neutral. I would be a lot happier if those HRs were in Colorado Springs, Salt Lake, or Albuquerque.

Peoria's recorded 6 errors so far and they're getting blown out 11-3 after 7 innings. Ugh.

Antigua was pretty good at least.

Tennessee is getting pounded 8-0 in the first game of their double header.

Chris Carpenter probably wants to hurt Tony Thomas right about now. He made an error with 2 outs in the first, turning a scoreless inning into a 4 run disaster.

Final line on Jax, 6IP, 3H 1ER 1BB 2K and will end up with an ND.

Between Castro, Cashner, and Jackson, at least we have some bright spots despite the Cubs performance the past 3 days.

Caridad now in to pitch. Hopefully hes ready to come back soon because I dont know how much more of Jeff Gray I can stomach.

Cashner also had a 8-1 GO-FO.

Jackson was 2 for 4 (2 K's though), and Vitters was 1 for 3 with a BB, pushing his BB% to 7!

You're going to be sorely disappointed when we trade all of them plus Vitters and BJax to San Diego for Heath Bell and Adrian Gonzalez in 2 months.

Id happily trade any 3 of those guys for Adrian, assuming an extension was in the plans. Cashner and Jacksons ceilings are probably as 2-3 starters, and Castro will most likely be a .280/.800s type of hitter. Adrian is one of baseballs elite, and someone we could really build a team around. Id make the deal. If the want to throw in Bell too, super. However, before this pipe dream can even be considered, we have to ignore the fact that the Padres are an above .600 team and The Cubs cant get over the .500 line to save their collective lives. Spencer is kind of intriguing. How bad of a fielder is he exactly?

Great to see Jackson and Cashner dealing again. I'm starting to think both of them could be on the major league team after the ASB. It's going to be interesting though, to see who gets traded or taken off the 40 man to open up 3 spots for them and Castro.

Spencers catching my interest as well. Id like to see what he can do in Iowa sooner than later. Im getting sick of all the AAAAers over there anyway.

The only way I can see Cashner or Jax in the bigs this year is if there is an injury, theyre brought up as relievers, which we dont want or we become sellers and trade Lilly.

I love Adrian Gonzalez and would certainly be interested in finding a way to trade for him. That said, with Fielder going to just cost money and not the entire farm as well, he'd be my target, for that reason alone.

In the end though, if Fielder was locked up by the Brewers, or traded and locked up by the Yankees or wherever he went, I couldn't part with a package including Castro, Cashner, and Jackson.

Having the possibility of an All Star SS from the beginning of his career is too tempting for me anyway. Especially with what you're going to be paying Gonzalez(20-25 mill per?) soon after trading for him. Having a guy like Castro WILL allow us to go out and spend big somewhere else, whether it's for an ace or a middle of the order hitter, if he pans out the way we're all hoping.......

In order of least tradeable to tradeable guys for me who are most likely going to be asked about by other teams.......

1 Castro(damn near untouchable for me, with what's on or could be on the market anyway)

2 B Jackson(love the idea of a lefty 20/20 guy with good defense manning CF for us, which he could wind up as)

3 Cashner (tough for me not to put 2nd, but since there's still at least SOME concern over whether or not he remains a starter, I'm putting him 3rd. Although, he's certainly alleviating some of that concern so far this year anyway)

4 J Jackson (only because he's closest to helping us right now)

5 Lee (easier to deal him, with Castro looking like he's ready very soon. Although if he's traded, they better get a damn good return on him, since it's possible him AND Castro could be our MI within 3 years or so and our 1-2 hitters as well)

6 Vitters Just because I have him this low, doesn't mean I want him dealt either. Not this year anyway, unless it's for someone we'll have more than half a season and is a difference maker. Heath Bell? No.

Vitters is sporting a .291/.350/.445 line. Compared to last season, his Ks are up (22), but so are his BBs (8). Considering he's doing this in a league that's known for being pitcher-friendly, I'm happy to see his development coming along like this.
