Assuming the Cubs offense doesn't score 3 runs today and we do lose, I don't even think the 2006 Cubs started out any homestands 1-5. Ok they probably did, but still.

6/13/06-6/18/06

0-6

They'd then start 1-5 on their next homestand from 6/26-7/1

also started 1-5 on the homestand from 8/18-8/23

they were THAT bad

I despised that team. The Maddux for Izturis trade pisses me off to this day.

Not to worry Cubs fans... with the Pirates and Reds coming up, the Cubs will claw their way back up to .500. Of course, that will probably be followed by another losing streak. It's going to be a long season of miniature winning and losing streaks while hanging right around .500 and never seriously threatening the Cardinals. I hope I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any evidence to convince me otherwise.

I don't see how the Pirates and Reds are easier opponents than the Nationals and D-Backs. Good teams should not lose four in a row at home. Ever. That's because we're not a good team.

The Reds shouldn't be, but the Pirates are... well... the Pirates. No argument on the statement that the Cubs are not a good team. They are a mediocre team with a payroll 2-3 times that of their performance.
