When did Wade or Lebron lead a "team of scrubs" to the playoffs?

In Game 1 of the 2007 NBA Finals the Cavaliers started Sasha Pavlovic, Drew Gooden, Larry Hughes, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas with Mike Brown on the bench.

I think that qualifies and then some.

If those 3 get on the same team and get rid of beasley they will still have about 1.8 mil in cap space. I know it's sexy to think this isn't possible but it's absolutely possible to happen.

No, it's really not. Valuable players aren't going to sign for peanuts.

The Heat can't afford players the caliber of 2007 Gooden, Hughes, or Ilgauskas.

Carlos Arroyo can sign for minimum. Raja Bell has said numerous times he wants to play in Miami. They can sign Joel Anthony, who knows how much love Udonis has for Miami? There are people that will sign.

No, all players will sign at or close to the minimum to bask in the glory of the holy trinity. YOU AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION.

The Heat don't need players of that caliber.

The people that are stupid/desperate enough to sign for league minimum (or thereabouts) will be terrible.

If people are saying the Miami will be able and willing to pay the luxury tax to add on to the team, OK, fine. Insisting that they can build an acceptable supporting cast with salaries in the area of the league minimum is just absurd.

Source told FOXSports.com Miami Heat have offered Mike Miller 5-year deal worth 27-30 million with deadline tonight.

I'm admittedly not an expert on the NBA salary cap, but how is that possible?

Exactly, I don't understand why everyone thinks Miami needs studs to back them up. Sure you need bench and role players but you DON'T need studs when you have 3 superstars on the same team.

If the big 3 take 15 mil each they can sign Miller. Then they need to sign players on the minimum. Still possible but hard.

Damon Jones actually played 12 minutes in that Game 1 I mentioned. He had 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, and he did not attempt a field goal or free throw.

I don't even know how that's possible.

There's a wide gulf between "you need a championship supporting cast around LBJ/Wade/Bosh" and "you need guys who aren't in danger of going to the D-League with a bad season".

This what you're not getting; we're not talking about "studs." Capable role players and bench players aren't cheap. No, they don't need to have guys like that taking up every spot in the lineup, but they need at least a few and that's going to cost them a lot of money.

I think they will suffer a bit in the regular season due to their lack of depth and not wanting to rely on the "big 3" for heavy minutes every game. Once they tighten up their rotation in the playoffs however, the lack of depth will be much less of an issue.

What you're describing is laughably unrealistic. No, it's not impossible, but it would be insane if it happened, especially if Beasley is still on the team.

I find it incredibly easy to believe he had all those zeroes in counting stats, I find it more likely that there's a bookkeeping error if it says he didn't attempt a shot.

That is assuming Beasley is gone, right? And if I'm another NBA GM, why would I do anything to help the Heat achieve world domination?

Yea they will have 3 superstars but let's not forgot about the beating DWades body has taken. What happens when 1 hard foul knocks him out then you are stuck with Lebron, Bosh, and 3 should be D League players starting for the Heat.

No see, I do get that. I also named a couple of them and it's also possible that Pat has people waiting in the wings. Dwyane is also very good at recruiting people, and tampering, so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility to get people cheap just to play here. I'm not saying it's a forgone conclusion, but it could happen.

Right, Wade's injury history is something that's really been drowned out in all of this.

This is true, but playing with LeBron will also probably extend Wade's career by lessening the beating that he takes on a nightly basis. He won't be the same player at the end of a 6 year deal, but will likely still be a very productive player.

Yes, Beasley would have to be gone. There are teams that won't mind having the #2 pick with a one year $5 mil deal gone at the end of the season.

Sure, anything COULD happen, but it's just so ridiculous unlikely that it's really not worth discussing. You just don't see it happening. This is a business and these players are here make money. Just because you named names doesn't mean that any of them would actually play for around the minimum. Even guys like that expect significantly more.
