the problem being, the 6th year of a hometown contract is dependent upon raises he gets for being on the team. a new contract cannot pay him 28 mil right off the bat, if we are assuming the exact same cba that we have today, and can only pay him a bit more than half of that.

i'm not thinking this will be a huge deal to lebron anyway. it's a bigger deal to guys like bosh and wade. as long as lebron doesn't donate free bulls tickets to service men and women and then try to write them off every year for many years, he won't be hurting for money. he'll be close to a billionaire when he's done playing basketball either way.

I'm not really following the opportunity to win it all back. Is it a "he still has years left to play" thing? Because the opportunity to sign that higher FA contract doesn't get replaced by a greater opportunity later on if he signs with a new team. Endorsements maybe? I'm not following the train of thought.

The 6th year he doesn't get from the Bulls he'll be paid for in the first year of his next contract. Like he said, it may only be $15 million at that point, but he'll still get a chunk of it back.

Even without the CBA/extra year gamble, the AAV of the contract is higher, right? He can't get that money back.

Yeah, but again, he'll get a chunk of that money back. And if the option is Chicago with Rose, Bosh, Deng, and Noah along with being around your kids a lot more vs Miami with Bosh and 2,00 miles from your kids, I don't know that the ~$15 million difference is all that much when you're already guaranteed over $100 million. But that's just me, and I'm not sure I can even fathom what $30M would really be like, let alone $100M.

Lebron joins twitter.

@kingjames

Close friend Chris Paul posted on Twitter at midday Tuesday that while he couldn't persuade James to tell him which team he'll sign with, he talked him into joining the service.

Less than an hour after Paul's tweet, James had nearly 18,000 followers -- even though he had yet to make a single post.

Does Bosh want to go to Cleveland?

Heard that too. Seems like Bosh has been more tied to Wade, so this is strange to me. I guess Bosh really wants his money. Also heard that Bosh may not want to go to Cleveland, and he wont' agree unless Lebron re-ups for 6 years, which is what Bosh would have to do in an S & T.

Does Bosh want to go to Cleveland?

Indications seem to be that he'd prefer to go to Chicago, Miami or New Jersey (in no particular order), but like all things in this ongoing saga, take those reports with however many grains of salt you prefer.

I think he's more concerned with being with Lebron or Wade than the city.

He'd have to be the center there. Remember how he specified he wanted to play alongside a big man.

I don't know what to believe anymore. I'm taking everything with a grain of salt now.

What do the Cavs have to send the other way?

Yeah, but a chance to play with Lebron might be too tempting to turn down. This might be good for us because it would make Wade decision to come to Chicago that much easier. No way in hell he stays in Miami with no talent around him.

Wooo...I love all the reporting and refuting...

Ken Berger of CBSSports.com cites a source saying that Chris Bosh "wants to play with LeBron if LeBron leaves, but not necessarily in Cleveland."

If true, this would somewhat deflate an earlier report indicating that the Raptors have considered a sign-and-trade of Bosh to Cleveland. The more likely scenario, according to Berger's sources, would be Bosh attempting to join LeBron in New Jersey, Chicago or Miami.

I don't know how it would work, Windhorst has been vague saying that Cavs have more trade assets and ability to take on bad Toronto contracts. Williams? West? Varejao?

If Varejao isn't traded, then he'll play the 5 alongside Bosh, unless they get an ogre to match up against Howard/Bynum/etc.

I'm sure his first post will be the announcement.

"I'M BACK" sounds about right.

I personally hoping "Who knows of any good places to live in Chicago?"

Varejao and Hickson have been mentioned.

Cavs- LeBron, Bosh

Heat- Wade, Boozer

this is looking extremely possible (maybe even likely), and would pretty much make our offseason a complete and total disaster.

Nobody knows that. All of this stuff is just speculation. On Friday, we looked like we were going to get Wade and either Bosh or LeBron. Now everybody's speculating that we're going to be the team that ends up getting screwed.

Like I said, I'm taking everything with a grain of salt from here on out. The only guy I really trust to give me any news is Wojo. Everyone else can go [expletive] themselves.

Yeah but Wojo is saying this stuff too. He thinks LeBron is staying in Cleveland.
