A gimmick that would have made sense 10 years ago. Today? Not so much. I don't think many Cubs or Sox fans are all that more amped up for that series.

Then I don't think you know any Sox fans.

I look forward to the White Sox series more than anything other than Cardinals series. That has a lot to do with growing up pretty close to Chicago and thus having a good amount of friends who are White Sox friends.

That said I am OK with interleague play ending. Don't really care one way or the other.

Didn't you grow up in West Lafayette?

As someone who grew up in the south suburbs at 183rd and halsted, I find this very amusing.

Yes. Sure it's not the suburbs. That would be extremely close to Chicago. West Lafayette is 2 hours from Chicago and is dominated by Chicago sports. I also went to Chicago a half a dozen times every summer growing up (more than Indy).

I'm thinking that chances are about equal that we grew up surrounded by sox fans. :)

I married a Sox fan, and I don't care about the "rivalry". I do get a lot of the inferiority complex, though. :)

That's just the envy if you catch my drift.

So what are they going to do when the series is split 3-3 like it has been most years? What I dislike most about this idea is that it may be seen as a reason to keep interleague play which has outlived whatever usefulness it once had.

TPTB would not give the "BP Cup" a second thought if and when they decide that the NL/AL games should cease.
