That's twice today Riot has squandered a man in scoring position given to him by Demps. What a pile of suck.

Lee and Soto are pretty locked in, Byrd is putting up good at bats and Sori is starting to hit I think we should be in for a good next week of Cubs baseball.

Soriano's only hitting because the Astros apparently don't have or believe scouting reports. He still can't hit anything on the outside

He never could. It's silly to act like teams are going to suddenly only pitch him outside when they could have done that all along.

Exactly when Soriano is going well he watching outside pitches and waits for the pitch over the plate. He has looked better vs. outside pitches the past 4 days. I think that is one advantage with putting Soriano in the 6th spot, he is not the person you focus on holding down in this lineup as to when he was leadoff if was one of the first people you looked at in the lineup and came up with a game plan to keep him off base.

You can't say he's looked better against them in the last three days: they haven't thrown him outside pitches except in that last AB. His best hit this series was in an AB where he saw three straight inside fastballs and then a slider over the middle of the plate. Every team this season just pitched him away and he was hitting .214 when Houston showed up.

OK, this whole stupid "Soto batting 8th" thing needs to stop now.

Yea I would truly like to see Theriot in the 8th sport with Fuku leading off vs. RHP's followed by Byrd.

Nothing he could have done about the last at bat. He hit the ball hard and Wandy got lucky, definitely not Theriots fault

Oh come one. You drop the .214 like he was on a downward slide when the Astros came to town. The .214 was actually the result of him doing better compared to the first couple of series. Like the Bum pointed out, he went 3 for 7 against the Brewers.

What about the Brewers? He was 3 for 7 against them.

off the top of my head, 2 of those hits were off a lefty (davis, i think). he should hit lefties pretty well because they don't have a pitch similar to the slider righties throw at him that makes him spin out of his shoes. maybe a lefty with a good sinker would give him fits, but that isn't doug davis.

eta: only one of those hits was off of davis. 2/5 for the rest of the series. he still wasn't showing much (to me) on the pitch away in that series but the astros haven't even tried to pitch him away. i'll take it though.

The other hit that game was when a righty threw a fastball on the middle/inside of the plate. Missed his location, the first pitches he fanned at were outside.

He has clearly looked better all series, regardless of pitch location. Anyone who has watched Soriano over the past couple of season knows what Soriano looks like when he is struggling versus starting to hit. All I was saying is he is starting to hit the ball better which is an easy proven fact. I am guessing by how quickly you shoot this down you are one of the so called "great fans" who boo's Soriano when he goes 2-3?
