BTW, if we lose tonight, do not expect an outpouring of negativity from me. Even if we get destroyed. I will of course be upset, and really nervous, but we've already proven that we can dominate this team, and that leaves me with enough hope that we could take game 7 if we lose tonight. But hopefully it doesn't come to that, and I don't think it will.

We had a pretty heated conversation about the previous game. We tried to find a reason for what was wrong, but we couldn’t really find one.

That's....an odd thing to say. Perhaps he's messing with the Hawks heads and trying to get them overconfident? I feel like this Flyers team there's always an agenda to what they say.

To be fair, it's part of a longer quote that's a bit more upbeat. But taken by itself...yeah, its odd.

Same here. I will be a basket case, but I will expect the same effort in a Game 7 that we got in Game 5.

A win in Philadelphia is long overdue.

Things that happened in 1996:

-The Bulls win 72 games and their 4th NBA title in 6 years

-The Yankees win their first World Series title since the early 1980's

-The Cowboys win their last Super Bowl to date, beating the Steelers

-Bill Clinton defeatd Bob Dole and is reelected President of the United States

-The Summer Olympics are held in Atlanta, GA

-Princess Diana and Prince Charles are divorced

-The OJ Simpson Trial begins

-On October 27th at around 4:31 PM CST, a young umfan begins puberty

Oh and also the Blackhawks won a game at what is then called the CoreStates Center, their last win in Philadelphia until TONIGHT

?

The trial did start in 2006, ended in Feb 2007.

Care to rephrase?

Yeah, wow. 1996 and 1997.

Someone explain this to me. ProHockeyTalk.com has an article trying to decipher why home teams have won all 5 games so far. And they include this bit:

Aside from getting the last change, the other inherent advantage with playing at home is that the home team center benefits from a momentum advantage during faceoffs.

Why would the home team have a momentum advantage?

The road center must get set for the face off first. Then the home center comes in just before puck drop. So the home center doesn't have to start from a still motion, it is much more fluid. The word "momentum" is being used in the physical sense, not the emotional sense.

Thanks! I realized it was a physical rather than emotional thing...but I didn't know about that rule. That makes sense though...I always kinda wondered why one guy got to kinda float in there, but I didn't make the connection.

Just based on averages around the league, it looks like the home team's centers have about a 3-5% advantage in faceoff%. Obviously there are a ton of variables, and there are a rare few that actually fare better on the road than at home, but the difference isn't huge

Yeah...and I wasn't really arguing about the validity of the advantage...I just didn't know about the rule.

I just downloaded "Chelsea Dagger" on my phone and am listening to it over and over. I think the series ends tonight. The champagne will be on ice. It will keep to Friday if necessary.

My wife made that her cell phone ringer during either the Canucks or Sharks series, I forget which. And I have it on my mp3 player for occasional hockey excitement throughout the day.

I know you weren't arguing that, I just felt compelled to see how much of an advantage it really was.

The OJ trial was in 1995.

I should have specified, I meant the civil trial (actually I took many of those facts off a website because my brain wasn't working well this morning, and thats what it said on the site...they must have also meant the civil trial)

The civil trial was in 96-97

True. But that was the boring one.

When the OJ movie is made some day the center piece will be the 95 criminal trial.
