[expletive] that. Philly got dominated in that period. Come out like that again and these assholes are gonna watch us celebrate.

Those calls sucked.

That's all.

Chicago - 1

Refs' help - 1

Yeah, our goal came on the PP too, but screw that.

One penalty pretty much immediately after one just ended. And they finally get a goal, and on their first [expletive] SOG on a PP too. [expletive]!!

we really need to stop taking penalties because our PK is atrocious right now. all 3 power plays consisted of the flyers just dancing around own zone at will

and wtf was keith doing there? maybe you should get a stick on that guy considering you're covering nobody else. this is kind of a big game.

Frustrating end to the period but if the Blackhawks play that way the next two periods no amount of officiating will save the Flyers.

Considering Philly has only 1 SOG in 3 PPs - and unfortunately that one shot contributed to their goal - but I'd say 1 SOG in 4.5 to 5 minutes of PP time for the Flyers is not "atrocious PKing".

perfect example of why SOG doesn't tell you anything

Yeah I didn't see anything wrong with the PK in that period. Yes, they had some space out at the point, but that always happens. The idea is to keep the puck on the perimeter and in the corners. They did that very well.

Yeah Keith had a lapse there, but Doc made a good point. He had already put the wood to Briere. And even though the league is not going to hand out a 5-on-3 lightly in this game, he knew he couldn't mug him again.

So you'd be alright with it being 3-1 Philly, as long as the 'Hawks looked better on the penalty kill, IYO?

I guess I just fail to see how 1 SOG in 5 minutes of PP time - that was only netted on the rebound by a surprised Hartnell that was sitting in front of the crease- makes a person so unhappy about Chicago's defensive efforts during PHI's power plays.

Granted, my hockey knowledge is lacking, but I thought the first two PK opps by the Blackhawks were very good. Not perfect by any means, but no shots in 4 minutes of PP time is doing OK.

Them missing the net or not making the right pass does not mean the Hawks PK was great. They had time and space and had opportunities. The PK has been poor all series.

Obligatory Marian Hossa segment - check

Make that the 2nd one.

They had to get a necessary soundbite from him about his "SC curse", although the question not portrayed as such, before the on-ice pregame song.

Yes, the PK has been bad recently, but again, there was nothing wrong with those kills. The other team is going to get possession of the puck and typically will end up with a few passes before getting a shot from the point. The key is to either block the shot or gather control of the rebound and don't allow repeat chances. That's exactly what they did.

They are playing against a pretty good team. Not everything is going to go perfectly.

The refs are calling things tight both ways tonight imo. The hawks just have to be a little smarter. That isn't to say I agree with every penalty called, I'm just sayin' that is how it is going to be tonight. Let's just be sure to net that next wide open rebound eh?

That's probably what pisses me off the most -- there is no consistency from game to game. How are they to know how the league has decided to call a game when they go in? Just figure it out? That's stupid.
