Win tonight and I think you have to say there is at least a 51% chance this season ends with the Cup.

Is that based on something or just a random percentage?

These Blackhawks are road dawgs.

That makes me feel more confident for some reason. Teams count on their home ice being there for them -- for better or worse. They really can't count on that vs. the Hawks, because they'll come in and beat you in front of your home folk regardless of how raucous and loud they are.

Now if we can just shore up our own home ice difficulties...

I'm starting to get to the point where I start to get worried about the home games. I was reading how the players say they try to get too cute at home, trying to put on a show for the fans. I don't know if I buy that. I think it's more or less just a small sample size. But it is weird so see them outscored so far at home in the playoffs 20-15(17-14 without empty nets)

I wonder...do they take more penalties at home? Maybe they're just too jacked up and play less disciplined?

If you assume every Sharks/Hawks game is 50/50, then a 2-0 lead gives them an 81.25% chance to win the series.

I think they are 67% to beat either Eastern Conference team.

That would give them a 54% chance of winning the Cup.

Could be.

I feel like it is easier to start winning at home though, rather than be getting beat on the road and have to try to turn that around.

The booing here in San Jose? That'll continue for the time being. Maybe for a long time.

"I'm fine with it," said Campbell. "I've never really been a hated person. The first time I came back here, I thought, 'Ohhh!' I was kind of distracted by it. But after talking to [Hawks coach] Joel [Quenneville], the one thing he said was, 'You think you've got it bad? [Chris] Pronger gets booed in every building he goes into, so take it as a compliment and move on.'"

lol...

As for winning Game 1, more praise was heaped on Antti Niemi. Things were so loose, Niemi played the part of jester on Monday.

“I guess [Kris] Versteeg put Niemi up to it,” Patrick Kane explained. “You know, [Washington's Nicklas] Backstrom signed that 10-year deal today. So Niemi says, ‘Hey Kaner,’ and everybody is looking and thinking ‘what’s he going to say,’ because he doesn’t do that too often. He says ‘Kaner how do you feel? Backstrom is making more than you.’ So everybody was laughing. When he says something like that its really funny.”

this is funny to imagine because Niemi doesn't speak very much English.

Also, I found it a bit weird that I've read multiple times over the past 2 days quotes from the Sharks talking about how they need to keep the puck up when shooting on Niemi. It seems odd that they would repeat that multiple times to the media if they were really going to try to keep the puck up. Maybe they are just trying to get Niemi to think too much, expecting more shots up and then letting some soft shots go in lower in the goal.

I guess that could be.

I don't know enough to say for sure, but it seems like "keeping the puck up" is more of a general guideline that helps against any goalie. Most guys seem to get those leg blockers down on the ice pretty quickly.

My understanding is that this has been the book on Niemi for awhile. It doesn't sound like it's some big secret that they need to keep away from the media. It's kind of like a pitcher saying he wants to try to get Soriano to chase pitches out of the zone instead of throwing him a knee high fastball to get him out.

I guess that makes sense. I just figured if this was really their gameplan, it's an advantage for Niemi to be prepared for that. Maybe not on shots from the point or whatever, but if a Sharks is on a breakaway, or has a clear look at the net, and Niemi is trying to guess, it narrows down his options. That said, the reason why I was questioning it is because I thought they might be saying that to get in his head making him think they are gonig high when they don't change a thing.

Or it was just a couple of harmless comments that I'm taking way too seriously.

It's drawing near, the Hawks are playing with house money but, wouldn't it be something if they won tonight as well? Man, up 2-0 going back to the United Center, where they're bound to start playing better, it'd be a treat.

The thing about playing with house money is that you still need to keep winning in order to finish ahead.

Good point.
