i don't think the hossa hit was nearly as bad as ovechkin's on campbell. oveckin lowered the shoulder and intentionally ran campblel into the boards.

i don't think hossa was trying to put him into the boards. there was 1 minute left in a virtual must win and the hawks were trailing by one. i think he was just trying to get the edge on the lose puck and did a little too much.

i'm not saying it wasn't a penalty... it obivously was. i just don't think there was any intent to njure at all or anything like that. i think it was more accidental

I agree. It was a bit cheap, and no doubt there was frustration involved with that shove, but it was obvious Hossa was trying to make a play on the puck. Like you said with 1 minute left in a pivitol game 5 with the puck in the Preds zone, it's hard to believe he was going around looking to lay out someone just because. It doesn't excuse the hit, which was cheap and illegal, but I don't think it deserves a suspension. He didn't even get a game misconduct for it.

That said, the NHL can be really weird about stuff like this. The fact that he didn't get a game misconduct for the hit, and the fact that he bounced right back out of the penalty box to score the winning goal makes me worry the NHL will deem that he wasn't punished enough for the hit. You can bet the Preds are trying to frame this as Ovechkin-Campbell part 2 (their coach was saying he sees no difference between the 2 hits in the post game), and I wouldn't be surprised if Hamhius has an "injury" tomorrow.

So how does everyone think the prognosis for the Hawks is the rest of this series?

It's pretty clear that Chicago will have all the momentum after the win today. On the surface it seems pretty likely that the Hawks will finish this series off Monday in Nashville. The fact that they outplayed the Predators all game except for a few notable moments here and there says a lot about our chances. Personally, I just can't see the Hawks not being able to dominate the Preds at least in one of the last 2 games of the series. Maybe one game but not both.

However...Nashville knows they can play with the Hawks. They aren't scared of us. They know they *could* win the last 2 games. Common sense has been wrong a ton of times in this series. Every time you expect the Hawks to just roll over this team, every time you think the Hawks are in control, the Preds come back. So we'll see. If this was game 7 coming up, I'd be worried but with 2 chances to get it done, I feel somewhat good.

We just need to get out of this series. Vancouver is a better team than Nashville but obviously plays with a style more accustomed to how the Blackhawks want to play. Someone better let Robby Luongo know the Blackhawks are coming....

Kane is so unclutch. Disappears in all the big games.

Nobody was making that claim...but in reality Kane was a huge reason that Nashville even had the lead and its not like he did anything great or create a great play, he was left alone on the doorstep. I would say that Nashville's defense missed out huuuuggggeee in a key situation, not that Kane made a great play. He went to where he belonged and Nashville's dmen were not where they belonged. Kane scores

I think Hossa will get suspended just because the NHL has no rational of how to actually follow any consistent rule application. The main reason he will get suspended is because he didnt get a game misconduct and scored the winning goal right out of the box. If Nashville would have won there would be no suspension

This series has succeeded in piquing my interest in hockey. Today's game was fantastic.

It was a very entertaining game. I was just completely blown away by how the whole game went. Hawks should have won because they were better. Preds somehow fluke their way into what should have been a sure victory and yet do just about everything they could do wrong after the Hossa boarding to blow the game...kudos to the Hawks for coming back to win when they could have easily been demoralized, especially after the Hossa penalty.

I still can't get over the fact that they tied it. They had to pull the goalie to be at even strength and scored somehow.

The entire third period and into overtime seemed very back and forth to me. Didn't seem like either team could get much of an advantage. That's how this entire series has seemed - very even all the way through.

Will Monday's game be in Nashville or in Chicago?

Monday's game is in Nashville and then if there is a game 7 it goes back to Chicago (2-2-1-1-1 format)

Ah, thanks. Wasn't sure what the format is.

Why did the bring Crawford up again?

You can carry 3 goalies on your roster during the playoffs. They did the same thing last year.

I don't know about that, unless you are talking about on a game to game basis. The Predators pretty much dominated games 1 and 3, and the Hawks have pretty much dominiated the games they've won. Look at the scores up to today, 4-1, 2-0, 4-1, 3-0.

Predators in no way dominated Game 1. They were thoroughly outplayed the first two periods and got as lucky a goal as you can get to tie the game 1-1. They played pretty well in the third period and got another goal to go up 2-1. The other two goals were empty netters.

Ok, the B-Hawks are making me a hockey fan. Went to Buffalo Wild Wings last night, and the Cubs were on one tv, and Pitt-Ottawa was on the other, and I gotta tell ya, I was watching the hockey game more than I was watching the Cubs...(I was watching plenty of Cubs too, but still...)

That game yesterday was amazing. Such highs and lows.

I scared the bejeesus out of my 3yo when they tied that thing.

Well I don't know anything about how the league judges suspensions, but I have to try to be unbiased. The Hossa hit looked nearly identical to Ovechkin's, except a little less malicious. O got what, 8 games? Seems like the league would look at a lesser suspension for Hossa, but still a suspension. I haven't heard of one yet though.

Ovechkin got a game misconduct and a 2 game suspension. He also has a past history.

I think the NHL will not say that these things factor into their decisions but I think they do...1st. No game misconduct 2nd. Hawks won the game 3rd. Its the playoffs.

The first two issues are going to drive a suspension and the 3rd is going to keep it at 1 game...that is just what I expect from the NHL

Ok. For some reason I was thinking O got more. My bad.

you are probably thinking of wiz's hit on seabrook that happened the next game. I think Wiz got 7 games.

Yeah, I meant more the entire series. Every time one team gets a blowout, the other comes back the next night with one. It seems like whichever goalie is hot that night is the team that'll win.

I'm sure NBC didn't show this, but after Hossa was announced as the number one star and that blonde from CSN was trying to interview him, her mic wouldn't work and the crowd just got louder and louder until she just gave up. It was really funny and awesome.

They covered it on the radio. I know because I forgot it was a day game and turned on the car radio with 1:03 left in the third ](*,)
