NEVARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

If anything, we can be amused by guys like the one I just heard on WGN's post game show ranting that the Cubs sucks because they don't play guys like Jake Fox and Sam Fuld.

Those people are idiots, but in fairness to them, if we had Sam Fuld in LF right now and an extra $17.5 million (difference between Soriano and Fuld) to spend on something else I'd have to think the Cubs would be a better team.

yeah, but that just means we'd be better off if we somehow got out of soriano's contract, as the first thing we'd do with that money is get a real left fielder.

Don't be so sure. This is Jim Hendry, after all. He'd probably overpay for some middle relief or go find himself another leadoff hitter or something.

But, like someone said, we're just arguing hypotheticals here. If any team would take Soriano off of our hands and would pay the majority of that contract, we'd have to take back a whole bunch of crap or it would be one of the dumbest trades in baseball history. Sadly, only Jim Hendry would pay him that kind of money.

I had pretty low expectations for this season, but after these first 6 games I am genuinely excited. I'm confident this team will cost Hendry his job.

Is it time for the firesale yet?

To have a firesale dont you need to have expensive players someone else would want?

A lot of teams would like to have Lee, Lilly, and Ramirez. Probably Fukudome too.

I can see Lilly and Ramirez. Lee might net some good return too. Fukudome...I dont think we would get a lot. All have no trade clauses anyway.

Again, you flat out tell a player that you're not going to re-sign them with their contract ending and they're typically not going to exercise the NTC just to hang around a losing team for a couple more months. It's really only a spanner in the works if you're trying to trade a guy who has years left on his deal.

And Fukudome would definitely have value given that he'd only have one year left. And saying that Lee only "might" get a good return is ridiculously shortsighted.

Sometimes I think Bob Brenly is just going to lose it on Soriano, on the air. I loved that comment he made about how Sori should've caught that foul, then he said something to the effect, "Well, I've said that before." It would be cool to hang out with Len and Bob after a game like that.

I only just checked the boxscore and all I needed to see was that we had 8 walks and 1 run

This team continues to amaze and bedazzle the human mind

Gotta start get some big hits with runners on.

It didn't sit well with me seeing good ABs with our setup guys, getting on base, then seeing Lee & ARam hack like anxious rookies.

Show a little patience up there. The pitcher was a greenhorn who should have been nervous with runners on, not the other way around.

I've never been a fan of Brenly, but his early season rants/snarky coments are really making me warm up to him.

Mully and Hanley talked with Ricketts on the show this this morning. One thing I found especially disturbing is when the asked him about Lous future, he said it was up to Jim (Hendry). This leads me to believe that not only will Jim be sticking around, but Lou as well, if he chooses.

I don't think it means anything. Ricketts likely hasn't made a decision yet and, thus, is speaking in terms of current operating procedure.
