How do you know that's anybody's one reason for not taking it seriously? It was simply the most glaringly stupid thing he chose to comment on.

It was the only thing he offered up as a reason and all I did was note that other respected leagues have teams with stupid names.

Well, for one, you're not the reason police so nobody has to justify their dislike of arena football to you; and for two, the point was simply that it's a really intentionally dumb way to spell a team name. Nobody was making a point about stupid team names in general.

Yard Dawgz?

Sorry AFL, not taking you seriously.

It's a form of football in the NFL offseason, so I'll watch.

I don't understand this sentiment. No matter how [expletive] the football, you'll watch it cause it's football?

If nothing else is on, yeah probably. I won't watch it intently or anything, but if it's on and there's nothing else on, why not?

Find a way to watch Australian Rules Football instead :-).

Arena League is right there on NFL Network, Australian Rules Football isn't. Otherwise, I'd be all for it. :-)

I can watch pretty much any college football game, and every NFL game regardless of "my team" playing. But I've tried watching the world league and arena league and just can't. I guess it has something to do with people actually caring about the outcome or the tradition. With baseball I can really only watch the Cubs and then playoff games, or if I go to a game I can enjoy anybody. But I can't really get into other teams playing.

I definitely won't get that much into the games, but they'll be something to put on the TV. And sometimes they can be exciting games.

That said, I don't go out of my way to watch any AFL games.

I'll admit it. I will watch a little bit of this. And yeah, just because it's football.

I would watch NFL Europe on occasion too.

The arena league is like watching 2 basketball teams that play full court press. Like Loyola Marymount in the Hank Gaithers days vs UNLV. It just becomes silly after a while because there's so much scoring.

Maybe a better comparison is playing football at recess, with a nerf and everyone goes out for a pass and one defender is counting out the rush 1 thousand, 2 thousand.

Arena Football League has a place and I enjoy watching it very much. NFL has substance, and the AFL is liking watching 60 minutes of fast break basketball, but I still enjoy the AFL.
