Wow, his career might be rejuvenated playing in that park. Good move and good deal. I'd rather have 1/5 from Vlad than 3/15 from Byrd. I realize it's not comparable because he's more of a DH at this point in his career, and I'm not suggesting the Cubs should have went after him instead, just saying.

Plus the fact that he plays like the greatest baseball player known to man when he plays in Arlington

i didn't even know he was a free agent.

and if vlad's decline continues the way it has over the last 3 years (or if he just puts up the same offensive numbers as last year), then byrd is better.

In 193 career at bats at Arlington, Vlad has done this:

.394 .471 .705 1.175

He ain't gonna post those numbers this season, but he lights up like a torch when he plays there. Good deal for both sides.

Well, he probably lights up there because he's facing Rangers pitching. He no longer benefits from that.

Rangers Agree To Terms With Khalil Greene

By Tim Dierkes [January 9 at 10:11pm CST]

The Rangers agreed to terms with infielder Khalil Greene on a one-year deal worth $750K, reports MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. He'll serve as a utility infielder.

Greene, 30, hit .200/.272/.347 in 193 plate appearances for the Cardinals in 2009, tallying 240.3 innings at shortstop and 96 at third base. On December 4th, 2008, the Cards acquired Greene from the Padres for pitchers Mark Worrell and Luke Gregerson. Greene had a promising spring, but hit the DL in May with social anxiety disorder. Earlier this week, ESPN's Buster Olney wrote that Greene has been working out diligently at Vanderbilt this offseason with his former college coach.

They also got Khalil Greene, for what its worth.

It could have something to do with the fact that the Rangers have not had good pitching during most of Vladdy's AL career...
