Given the increasing number of pitchers hurt while trying to hit I'd be surprised if they evened things out by removing the DH. It is much more likely they add it to the NL than remove it to the AL at this point. Keeping your high salary players healthy is generally what drives most new rule changes.

If you love the DH, why don't we just have an offensive team that bats and a defensive team that plays the field.

this was my initial thought as well. why stop at 1 DH when you could have 9.

i personally don't like the DH. It brings more strategy into the game when you have runners on first with 1 out and the pitcher comes up. he has to execute his bunt. I think if you play the field you should have to swing the bat. the game is taught to be like that.

You don't go with 9 because the pitcher is the only unique position on the field, a guy who plays every 5th day.

And baseball is not a game of strategy. It's a game of pitcher vs hitter, with a little fielding thrown in. There is not strategy involved in a sac bunt. It's not an elaborate thought out plan. It's just a guy who can't hit giving up.

you could have him bunt, swing away or pinch hit. I would agree with you most of the time it isn't strategy but sometimes it is. coaches do have strategies. Some coaches bring in a pitcher to pitch to just one hitter or bring in a new pitcher to have unfavorable matchup against a pinch hitter.

Wow, that playbook must be huge.

who said anything about a book? those are just suggestions off the top of my head.

do you think its not strategy when they have the infielders come in at the corners or the outfielders play at no doubles depth or play in so any shallow hit balls could be thrown in to get a potential runner coming home from third?

i guess they do that because they get tired of standing in one spot. you're right, no strategy in baseball.

I hope the NL adopts the DH rule. I also would like to see the NBA incorporate a similar DFTS (Designated Free Throw Shooter) position. I mean who wants to see Hack-a-Shaq continue to ruin games? This could also extend the careers of past-their-prime greats.. Jerry West could literally still be playing! How cool would that be?
