The Brewers have a meeting with Tellem (wolf's agent) today, and they expect a response on Wolf. If they sign him, they'll next look for a set-up man, possibly Kevin Gregg. If they don't get Wolf, Jon Garland is Plan B.

Same deal as Tim Hudson. I love it too! :-)) Especially considering their plan is to sign Randy Wolf for Hudson money, and following that deal up with Kevin Gregg. LOL

I think everyone is seeing what the Yankees did and are, whether they realize it or not, using at the reason to spend more. That doesn't mean spend Yankee type money but spend more relative to what you are normally willing to do.

I can't tell if you're serious. The Yankees have been spending that way for many years. Last year was the first time that a FA spenidng spree actually paid off. I doubt anyone is taking their spending cues from the Yankees, particularly a team in a different league.

Yeah, I don't quite understand that, either. Spend 250m for 7 years so that you can have one of your worst decades (winning World Series) ever. A smarter team would model themselves after the '90's Yankees.

Considering how many games they won and how much money they made in the 2000's, I think it's fair to say the spending has been paying off handsomely for much longer than one year. But you're right, cubbiebum's statement is extremely bizarre. People aren't just all of a sudden emulating the Yankees free spending ways.
