I think we can pretty accurately gauge that Cutler has many, gigantic flaws in his game that need to be rectified if he's going to be any good. Cutler was good, NOT great in Denver, with amazing offensive talent around him. And now he's terrible with terrible talent around him.

I'd be overjoyed with good, not great.

We don't have the resources or the FO competence to get Denver's Oline or Marshall/Royal.

Obviously.

let's go shotgun and let's go no huddle and see if that works.

but turner has every single play scripted so it doesn't matter.

I'd love to see his script

1. Commit false start penalty

2. Run up middle

3. WR screen

4. 3 yard out pattern

5. Commit false start penalty

6. Run up middle

7. Run up middle for a TD

8. (start new drive) Use one of those confusing plays the WRs can't seem to figure out in practice.

9. 5 yard out pattern

10. Repeat step 1

Exceptions:

1. If running plays don't work after the first 3, skip all remaining running plays on script and just throw.

2. If passing plays aren't working, direct Cutler to just look for Olsen and throw it to him no matter what.

LOL, a fingertip takes Forte down.

Charles Woodson, you have officially used up all your 1997 Michigan karma. I am now neutral towards you. Everything you do to help the Packers will now make me hate you more.

Most quarterbacks in the NFL aren't going to look too good on a terrible team. So the fact he is playing bad on a bad team doesn't really tell me anything. His main flaw is the interceptions especially in the red zone and that is just a matter of becoming more disciplined mentally but I think as the season has progressed he has made more and more bad throws probably just because he has been beaten down mentally by having such a crap team around him and getting hit all the time.

Putting better talent around Jay will help A LOT.

Why do the Packers players somehow always look like idiot yokels? Is that like something they look for when they are scouting potential draft picks?

I'm sure he'll be better but will he still be forcing stupid passes all the time? Probably.

A la Favre. Works for me.

Except much less accurate from what I've seen from Cutler this year. Even when he's going well he's underthrowing and overthrowing people all the time.

Actually Cutler's accuracy is pretty close to Brett Favre's at the same point in their careers, if not slightly better.

Well that's good to know, because that's one of the things about Cutler that really shocked me. Even the passes he completes receivers are leaping or lunging to catch. No one talks about it outside the INTs but I notice that crap all the time and it mpisses me off.

The thing that Cutler needs most is good coaching, more specifically someone who is a strict disciplinarian. In Denver Cutler had Mike Shanahan that served that role for him, but right now I see nobody on Chicago's staff to play a similar role. Unfortunately, that has caused Cutler to regress overall as a quarterback.

Favre was similar where he needed Mike Holmgren and later Mike McCarthy to constantly critique how he was playing. Otherwise Favre's play got sloppy and end up costing Green Bay. His play during the Mike Sherman served as a testament to that.

Interestingly enough according to Pro-Football-Reference, through 3 seasons, Jay Cutler is one player whose play is similar to Brett Favre.

Sure it'll help a lot. It would've helped any quarterback. Cutler has done nothing to make the talent around him, which is admittedly quite bad, better. That's a huge problem. And by acquiring him we hindered our ability to surround him with good talent.

You can't say that that the Bears didn't trade for Cutler expecting him to make the players around him better. Everyone here thought he would. But he sucks. I'm not giving up (like we have a choice) on the experiment but he just sucks right now. There's no sugar coating it.
