Has us signing Felipe Lopez (2 years, $11 mil) and Chone Figgins (4 years, $48 mil) with the assumption of Lopez as our second baseman and Figgins as our center fielder. I highly doubt that happens.

Agreed, they are not terrible options. They are horrendous options.

Anyone who gives Chone 4/48 deserves to be fired before the ink is dry. That would be absolutely awful.

There's a part of me that likes Chone Figgins and a part that doesn't. There's the part that likes how he knows how to draw a walk, is a pretty good contact hitter, and can play solid defense at multiple positions in a pinch... then there's the part where he has really low slugging, has a terrible SB%, he's about to be 32, and is tremendously overvalued likely because of his AVG and SB totals (while people ignore his actual success rate)... I wouldn't mind having Figgins, I just wouldn't overpay for him. 4/48 is absurd. He might be a 3/30 guy at best, but someone is going to overpay, I just hope it won't be us. If I were to offer him a contract I'd peak at something like 2/16 with a 3rd year club option to make it 3/25. And even typing that imaginary number makes me feel a little queasy

There's also the part of me that's convinced he's Hendry's fallback option should Lee or Ramireze leave after next year.

the problem is that the only position that figgins is good at is 3b, and obviously he can't play there.

32 year old center fielders are generally a bad idea. When he's 35 I don't think he'll be playing a credible center field any more. Pass.
