Now that Reed Johnson has filed for FA and Boston has traded for Hermida, Baldelli would be a cheap pickup to backup CF and RF. He hits lefties pretty good and could possibly platoon with Fukudome.

Sam Fuld, Jake Fox, Micah Hoffpauir, and Brad Snyder are all chep 4th outfielder candidates. What we need is a 3rd outfielder. A healthy Baldelli could be just that, but then again, a healthy Mark Prior would be a good staff ace.

I look for Fox to be traded, Hoffpauir is a backup 1B impersonating an OF, and Fuld will make the team as a defensive replacement/5th OF/pinch runner. As for Brad Snyder???????????????????

God NO, I guess in the same way Casey Blake was 4th OF with the tribe, No, and possibly.

Maybe. I'd rather see what Snyder or Fuld could do. There are better ways to allocate the funds we have for this offseason.

Fuld has no business being a 4th outfielder for a big market major league team. He's a bad version of Scott Posednik.

I think Baldelli made $500,000 last season, so money shouldn't be an issue.

Podsednik cant field to save his life anymore, and thats where Fuld excels. However, offensively, Id say Pods is Fulds ceiling, and Id take that.

And scott posednik has no business being in the majors unless it's as a Dave Roberts type 5th OF.

If the Cubs had a couple of mashers on the bench, Fuld is a fine 25th man. He's a smart baserunner and plays excellent defense. He can play all three outfield positions.

I don't see why people are so down on him.

I see no reason either. Pretty much everyone agres that no contending team will have Sam Fuld as a regular starter, but as a 24th man(Aaron Miles is the 25th as far as Im concerned), hes just fine. Between Hoffpauir, Fox, and Brad Snyder, we'll likely have 2 power guys on the bench, so why not have an outfielder there for his defense?

Aaron Miles is dead to me as far as I am concerned. But I agree with everything else, as long as we have 1-2 guys on the bench who can be good pinch hitters (between Hoff, Fox, Snyder, and a potential FA we should) I am fine with Fuld as a 4/5 OF and pinch runner option. Bench wise I am more concerned about have a good back up MI, specifically someone who can play good defense at SS and still hit .250+.

4th OF is different than 25th man. He has no business being a 4th OF unless that OF consists of Manny Ramirez/Grady Sizemore/Brad Hawpe

If Fox and Hoffpauier both make the roster I will be livid. They are essentially the same guy except Fox has at least some position flexibility.

That oompa loompa has nothing to do with what I think of Sam Fuld.
