Where is the market for Fielder though? Seems like there are plenty of teams that could use him but couldn't pay what he'll want. Teams also seem to be getting very stingy with their top prospects for guys like Fielder.

He'd be a good fit in Baltimore for example but I doubt they have the pitching to spare to get Fielder. The brewers, oddly enough, might be better off offering him arby and taking the picks.

The Cubs could really use a guy like Fielder. They'll probably extend Lee, but with no significant bats on the horizon in the minors, no impact LH bats, and Lee turning 35 in the final year of his deal, Fielder could actually be a great fit. Although it would never happen.

Exactly, there are lots of places that would make sense but won't happen. Makes me wonder if the Cubs would be one of those teams that pursues Fielder when he does hit FA.

I still think the right answer to their issues was to trade Prince for a decent 2B or 3B and some pitching help, shifting Hardy to whichever of 2B or 3B they didn't get, and Weeks to CF, while bringing Gamel in to man 1B.

I've been saying this for months.

I don't have much issue with trading Hardy, but I don't think a CF was what they needed.

If Doug Melvin has any brains in his head, he'll trade Prince.

Bums in seats. He won't do it. Miller Park will empty out on him.

He's not re-signing with them anyway so they might as well get something for him before he's gone.

This. He's going to walk, no doubt about that. The picks would be nice, but spinning him for pitching would be better.

Besides, it seems to me Braun is the darling in Milwaukee, not so much Prince.

Eh, they both really are. Braun probably more so. But Brewer fans love the Prince.

with their finances in trouble the Mets might not be able to afford Fielder. Also, Fielder seems like the kind of player that could very easily get destroyed by the NY media.
