So 312sports has a posting by Tim talking about McGrady to the Bulls being the hot rumor.... Details?

For something like Hinrich, Salmons, and/or Miller.... basically the exact names posted here last night.

where exactly is this a "hot rumor?" I haven't heard anything other than just random speculation here. Does it have something to do with McGrady moving to Chicago in the offseason to train?

Was I the only one who also saw a segment on ESPN that McGrady is being shopped? And that the teams that are most likely to be buyers are Bulls, Knicks and other teams at the bottom of the playoff race / out of the playoffs that are primarily working to free up cap space?

Sheesh. Do a google search on "mcgrady to bulls" and you'll get a slew of hits.

HEY GUYS I HEAR THAT SHAWN KEMP MIGHT BE TRADED TO THE BULLS PASS IT ON.

Trade was rejected as 4 of his illegitimate kids turned out to be Tiger Woods.

As a pacers fan watching this Bulls-Pacers game I have to say Rose is awesome and the Pacers bench gives me hope for the future. Roy Hibbert looks like he could become one of the best centers in the game one day provided he makes a big leap forward defensively. Noah definitely can't guard him.

I think it might have been CSN where you heard it originally, because I don't remember anything on ESPN.

No, I watched an espn segment this morning.

And obviously, nobody has checked the google search I recommended yet if they're still doubting me.

The hits are from last season.

nope, not all of them.

Almost all of them, and there's barely even a page's worth of hits from the search in the first place.

I'm not sure what you're looking at. I get 10 pages of results including plenty of links like this from the 29th: http://dailyherald.com/story/?id=347418

McGrady recently left the Houston Rockets and both sides reportedly will seek a trade. Sources suggested the Bulls are open to acquiring McGrady, who is just 30 years old.

The 6-foot-8 swingman is the NBA's highest-paid player at $23.2 million, but his contract ends after the season. A trade with the Bulls would almost have to include the expiring contracts of Brad Miller and Jerome James.

The Bulls might also be interested in moving John Salmons to guarantee a larger amount of cap space next summer. He's owed $6.5 million next season but has an option to terminate the deal and become a free agent.

Without Salmons on the payroll, the Bulls could have more than $20 million to spend on the 2010 free-agent class.

That story was from that night, but obviously, this rumor has legs and has been out there for a while now. I really don't understand what you're complaining about. I heard a rumor from multiple sources (including here, an on-air espn report and various websites) and posted an article with the most logical speculation about the players involved. The rumor has since been confirmed from a very wide variety of sources.

What is your complaint again?

Is McGrady going to be able to return to his pre-injury level? What have doctors said about his recovery?

If they are going to sign him to a long-term deal, trade for him, but if they have no intention of doing it I would stay away from McGrady.

ESPN had reported that VDN firing imminent. Doug Collins name has come up again. Now, the latest has VDN denying the reports that he's gone.

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=4776746

The Tribune is reporting in their Around Town section that Collins could be persuaded to come to Chicago if Reisndorf hands him a big wad of cash. I didn't think the deciding factor in Collins coming to Chicago would be money. He has a great job, does a super job at it, and he has a fairly stress-free life. I would be more persuaded to come to Chicago by the fact that the Bulls have Rose and $15-20 million to spend on free agents next year.

People are complaining because you've been trying so hard to get hits for those 312sports articles, so it seemed like you were fabricating a rumor for cheap page views, that's all.

Trying so hard? I've posted a link when I put up a new article.

And the rumor was real and has been reported in a wide variety of places at this point. Seems a silly thing to complain about.

I'm not saying you committed a sin or something; you're trying to drum up hits for a new website with a story about a "hot rumor" that most of us hadn't heard about outside of random speculation. That made it sound less like a legitimate story and more like that sleazy [expletive] we complain about less reputable websites doing.

If it's a real rumor it's not big deal. I still haven't heard about it being legitimately discussed outside of idle "the contracts could work/mcgrady and his contract are a fit in chicago" type of speculation. Surely you see how people would be kind of offended.

I can understand that. But I've been running this website for six and a half years now and haven't engaged in that kind of sleazy speculation during that time. I'd kind of think I've built up a little credibility by this time.

And the Daily Herald article I linked should back up the opinion that this is a valid rumor at this point. Whatever "valid rumor" means.

Oh, and for those saying that 312sports is a bad idea...

the seven day alexa ranking for the site after two months is already higher than that for NSBB after six and a half years. (the one month ranking is a bit lower and the three month ranking is obviously much lower, but with traffic building over time, the seven day is a more accurate showing of where the sites currently stand). I also found the idea fairly well validated when ESPN started announcing things like ESPNchicago.com after we started the process to launch the site.
