Exciting or not, this team isn't going anywhere if it consistently scores under 100 points

This is probably true but Rose not being 100% certainly isn't helping things and the defense has looked pretty good thus far.

I would like to have someone that I had more faith in from the outside, especially with Rose's ability to drive to the hoop.

like it or not, the offense is missing Ben Gordon right now

You are right, but do you think the Bulls are a better team with Salmons as shooting guard?

Salmons is starting this year as cold as he was hot at the end of last year. He needs to get his shooting touch back

Yep. I was thinking of Salmons vs. Gordon as a total player. Salmons is a much better defender.

Did Salmons play 3 a lot more last year than 2 witht he Deng injury? He probably didn't have to shoot three or as deep or shots being the small forward.

Myth. The Bulls are shooting about the same % this year as they did last year. Of course the Bulls are scoring about 8 points per games less this year, despite playing a slightly tougher five games this year as they did last year. The Bulls are not aggressive enough this year, as can see by the lower FTA so far (112 through 5 games this yr, as opposed to 149 attempts last year), and Gordon wasn't a real factor in getting to the line. Personally the Bulls are missing Rose's explosiveness moreso the Gordon's offense.

The Bulls had an effective field goal percentage of .493 which was only good for 20th in the league. The problem is that they're at .427 so far this season which is second to last in the league. They were 7th in 3 point FG percentage last year and they're dead last so far this season (.381 vs. .234). You can attribute that to no Gordon and Salmons/Hinrich being ice cold so far.

The good news is that their rebounding on the defensive glass is vastly improved. They're 3rd in defensive rebounding percentage so far when they were 28th last year. Deng and a consistent Noah have been huge their so far. Sadly, Thomas not getting much run has helped that too.

Keeping in mind a small sample size so far I think you can expect that letting Gordon going and replacing him with Salmons at the 2 and allowing Deng to slide in at 3 has had the effect you'd expect--trading much better rebounding/defense for a drop off in outside shooting. The good news is that Salmons should start shooting better and Rose will get healthier to help mitigate the losses on offense.

In other wrods the Bulls are not really missing BG at all.

no, not that at all

I just don't think the Bulls players are sitting around in the clubhouse thinking, "Man I wish we had BG back." Over the course of the season Salmons/Deng will more then make us forget about Gordon. In fact, I am not missing BG.

He's not that much better. And Gordon is a lot better on offense.

I hate Charlotte...they always give us a tough time.

So far this year, they have an even worse scoring offense and an even better scoring defense than us.

I don't care what the Bulls are thinking in the clubhouse. Gordon scored nearly 21 ppg last year, and so far this year (small sample alert), both Rose, Salmons and TT's ppg are down as well. Deng and Noah's improved ppg's barely make up for those 3 much less Gordon's numbers. Overall, the team is scoring FIFTEEN (!!!!) fewer ppg than last year.

Yeah, in an ideal world the Bulls still have Gordon, but who wanted to spend the money for 2010 on him? They can live without what he brought for a year.

I'll take 21 and 16 from Noah every day of the week.

I'll take 4-2. Denver will be tough but they've gotten blown out the last two games. Hopefully the offense can wake up against them. I haven't seen them play but they've allowed 120+ a couple of times now so hopefully we can score vs them.
