This Series reminds me of the 2003 NLCS. The Yankees (Cubs) take a 3 games to 1 lead over the Phillies (Marlins), then lose game 5 but return home only needing to win 1 game out of 2. We all know how 2003 ended; hopefully this will be a repeat.

I was with you until the word lose. Then you completely lost me.

starting burnett tonight was a huge mistake. wouldn't you rather sort of concede tonight's game by going gaudin against the other team's ace, then come back with a rested burnett against pedro at home in game six? now you've got a tired 37 year old facing pedro in game six, which i could easily see the phillies winning.

Definitely. If it's 2-2 or if you're down 3-1, then I could understand it.

Sabathia in Games 1 and 4 is justifiable because you can bring him back in Game 7 if need be. But Burnett was only going to pitch twice in the series anyway so you might as well hold him back so he could go on an extra day's rest rather than short rest.

I guess since he only threw 53 pitches, you could bring Burnett back in Game 7 for a couple innings, but if you go Gaudin tonight and Burnett in Game 6, you can have Pettitte in the pen for Game 7 and he would be on normal rest.

I'm not sure what you mean. Both teams lost game 5 on the road before returning home for games 6 and 7.

He means that the series ended after game 4 in 2003. He doesn't know what you mean by "lose."

Ah, got it. Bartman and Gonzalez never happened.

Easy. The Bartman's father is Homer, and the Cubs hit 13 homers in the series. Also The Simpsons air on Fox, and future Cub Chad Fox was on the Marlins. :D

Petitte and Sabathia = Prior and Wood?

Prior + Wood = Sabathia's Weight

I don't think starting Petey two games in Yankee Stadium was a very good idea...

And someone had to have been signaling to Matsui pitch location on that 2 out RBI single.

Every time jerry hairston steps to the plate, I expect to see him savagely tackled and escorted off by Yankee security... or perhaps have the bat torn from his hands and delivered to safety by Rick Monday.

In case you might have enjoyed the Yankees play this World Series and are somehow developing a fondness for them:

I found this on a Yankees message board:

I have hated this day for EIGHT years.

This day that he's talking about is the day that the World Series champ is crowned. Oh boo hoo you had to wait 8 years for a title.

I wish I knew what it felt like to be a yankee fan right now.

Just act like an arrogant jackass all the time no matter how deserved your cockiness is.

As much as i hate them I really wish i could have reason to be that damn cocky. Even just one year.

Yeah it kinda sucks. I'm sure eventually one of our teams will win it all. I just hope they do it while I'm young enough to celebrate (meaning living in the city, childless so I can handle going out, getting drunk and celebrating)

"First world series title in 8 years, how gratifying is it to win after ALL those years"

Shut the hell up, jerk.
