If Seattle finishes off Texas tonight, the Cubs can clinch a protected draft pick with a loss...so there is that anyway.

To me, this is the most important storyline of the day.

I wonder what WGN will do for a tribute video?

If it's symbolic of the season, they won't have one.

The season from Hell is almost over!

I swear, it's like some people have completely forgotten anything pre-2007.

Yea.....remember that World Series title? That was awesome.......

I guess as a Cubs fan I should be content with a division title.

Way to completely make up something nobody said.

I was just pointing out that personally I don't think in the grand history of all things Cubdom this was anywhere near "the season from Hell."

2006 season: THAT was the season from hell.

2009 season: Frustrated as hell.

Pretty much, hence my "nobody remembers anything before 2007" comment. It's not like we have to look back too far for a truly horrendous and classically bad Cubs' season.

If you really think that 2006 was the season from hell..... then take a minute and consider these factoids.

  • * At 66-96, this wasn't even the worst CUBS team of the decade.
    * Since their last pennant in '45, the CUBS have fielded 16 teams that finished with a worse record than 66-96; including two 59-103 campaigns back in the 60's
    * For two full decades (1947-66) the team's AVERAGE record was 69-93. Now, technically, that is better than 66-96.... but come on..... we're talking 19 losing seasons in 20 years, and 10 in a row.
    * From 1960-62 the CUBS' average season record was 61-96.... and they did this with a middle of the order of Williams, Santo, & Banks !!!!
    * The 2006 CUBS finished in 6th place. From '47-66 the CUBS finished 5th 3 times, 6th twice, and lower than 6th place 15 times !!

Now, I'm surely not trying to argue that 2006 was a good season; clearly, it sucked hind teat ! But to refer to 2006 as the season from hell leaves people with this one burning question.............

What the hell do you know about Hell ??????

I'm not saying 2006 was the worst season. Lord knows I've witnessed plenty of them that were much worse in my own lifetime.

Yeah, I know you're not. After I made that post, I realized that I really quoted the wrong poster.

Also, I wanted to thank you for the kind words above. :hello:

you're arguing with someone who thought the 97 win team last year was a complete failure
