Get rid of animated avatars/sigs

Can we just ban these things? They make pages load slower.

 

I know there is the option of turning avs/sigs off, but having to kill everyone's avs/sigs because a couple of people have animated ones is lame.

Do you use Firefox? Adblock is awesome for blocking that sort of stuff.

I was wondering when somebody would suggest this. UMFan causes all kinds of problems for me.

You can disable all avatars/sigs in the User Control Pannel. I don't have a particularly fast computer or internet connection and I don't have any trouble loading pages with lots of animated sigs. Heck, even when surfing on my IPhone on the 3G network it doesn't take a noticable amount of time to load (relative to the time it takes to load a regular page).

 

Maybe I'll take it down tomorrow due to not intending to ruffle anyone's feathers (besides Packer fans)

Actually his sig does make my pages load slowly when using wifi. Although I have to admit, it would be more enjoyable if it was something like Ted Lilly plowing Yadier Molina. Or, of course, if it was a montage of Jay Cutler throwing to Packer defenders, or Greg Jennings... Oh, you get the picture.

yeah it doesn't matter what kind of connection you have, animated stuff is going to slow things down, even if you have a great connection and don't really notice it.
