At least he got a 5, but that was horsecrap.

lol, Capital's coach talking to the ref and you can read his lips. "A five for that? That's horse [expletive]!"

Okay, he's at least got game a misconduct too. Woo.

I'd be more excited about this start if I didn't expect the defense/Niemi to give it right back up in the 2nd period.

Sorry for the pessimism.

From a Capitals blog:

Without a doubt, “Chelsea Dagger” has got to be one of the worst goal songs ever.

You will DIE now.

I want every fan of every other team to hate it. I want it to get on their nerves.

Q needs to pick a goalie and stick to that guy. Since Huet sucks, I say put Niemi in and ride him till the end of the season.

Huet started today because the team has a back-to-back with travel in between. Q showed us today that Niemi is the #1 because he is starting against the Caps tomorrow.

I hope that's the case, but I don't think you can infer from Huet starting yesterday and Niemi today that he is the man now. You could argue Niemi should have started yesterday to try to win that one because whoever is in net today is going to get shelled.

Wouldn't you put your best against the best? It seemed the Red Wings game was the breaking point for Huet.

I don't think it's a given that you would play your best against what you perceive to be the better team. Flyers were at home, Caps on the road. It's just not that simple. Short of Q saying so I don't think this is evidence of anything.

Good first period. PK to start the second isn't ideal. Burish will scrap with someone after that PP ends.

They were looking for an excuse to call one there to even things up a little.

The slash by Burish was a little bit too obvious for the refs to be reaching.

It broke him so hard, he came back with one of his best games in months last night.

Breaking in the eyes of Q, not Huet himself.

Upon seeing it a few more times, I don't think Ovie should have been tossed. I guess the rules say a boarding major with injury equals game misconduct, but if that's the case and the refs know it, you have to take that into account and call it a double-minor.

If Cooke's hit isn't even a penalty, that hit isn't a major.

I can't disagree with that. Who do you think should be the #1 the rest of the way?

Niemi, without question.

Yep. I was just on the phone chatting with one of my Caps friends, and he I both agreed a double minor was more appropriate.
