Yeah, and look who was picked right after Barker.

 

Besides there are alot of busts in the draft, so for the Hawks to get one of more useful players out of the draft is somewhat surprising.

johnsson is a nice pickup for the hawks. i haven't seen him as much since he left the flyers but i get the sense that he's roughly the same player. he moves the puck really well, good passer, very smooth skater. occasionally he makes a bonehead play defensively but generally he's very solid positionally. he's smallish and not very physical, so he can get pushed around. but as long as you don't make him the guy who's supposed to clear the front of the net on the PK, he'll do well. we have timonen who is basically a better version, but i liked johnsson and would have liked to see him stay.

 

add in a pretty good prospect and i think the hawks have done really well to keep their team strong for this season while clearing some cap space and picking up a potential good piece for the future.

 

was my favorite goal of his as a flyer.

Rumor Central on ESPN is suggesting the Hawks are interested in Vokoun and (!!!) Roloson. I'm not sure what the hell they would want Roloson for. And Vokoun is due $6.3M for another year.

 

I blame all of our goalie troubles on Brian Campbell and his [expletive] contract.

I think the Johnsson deal is a good deal for the Hawks. For the Hawks fans who think they need someone more physical I just shake my head. Being physical is a nice asset but is not the be all end all in being a good dman. I would much rather have them being good with the puck and in position defensively. If they are that and a strong physical presence that is great, but really not as many of those around the NHL as people think.

That maybe, but neither is Huet. I suspect you might see the Hawks make a play for a goalie at the deadline. I am still high on Niemi, but he is playing way too much like Huet right now.

that was the worst period of the season. worse than the 3rd period against minnesota even.

 

kopecky should be benched for that garbage. not only does he suck ass, but he can't even take a clean hit without acting like a bitch and taking a stupid penalty to kill the team even more.

 

oh, and lol at the stupid atlanta announcers calling the hawks (and toews specifically) "whiny". this after they were asking for a diving call on sharp when he got tripped.
