Rexy was acting sexy tonight

Couldn't help but think

My guy.

Still amazes me how he went untouched by every team for as long as he did and now he's barely holding onto a roster spot. He had some real bad habits, but you could see the natural talent that he possesses. I would've loved it if he was our backup this year.

He looked pretty good in those highlights but he was lighting up a 3rd string defense. Rex could be adequate or even slightly above average with a good offensive line and at least one go to receiver.

A lot of teams missed the boat on Rex. I understand why he couldn't stay in Chicago. There was just too much negativity surrounding him at this point, and the Cutler thing is a whole new era. Being a backup in Chicago would be too weird. But there are a lot of teams that could use him. *Waves at Denver*

Mine too. I don't know if it was lack of dedication or what, but he just couldn't stop with the stupid. As someone else said, I know it couldn't happen, but he's hands down better than the current backups we have.

And while I've downplayed the importance of worrying about the backup QB, I'm obviously not against an upgrade. Jeff Garcia is going to be available...

Yeah there's only 1 TE since they cut Jason Davis, so if Gaines is the kinda blocker they say he is, he might be able to fill in at FB. I'm sure that's what they were thinking.

How much razzing did you get about the photo shoot [in Michigan Avenue Magazine]?

Not as much as I thought. I don't think Olin [Kreutz] has seen it yet.

Airbrush or no airbrush?

Uh, I'm sure there was.

What was the motivation behind doing it?

We had a lot of requests to do stuff, and I thought that would be one.

How would you describe your personal style, after looking at those photos?

It was a photo shoot. I didn't really have anything to do with picking out the clothes. It was more their stylists and what they thought would be cool.

Not much in that interview.

obviously the O should be better than last year, but is the consensus that the D will be better this year? i see a lot of familiar names, just a year older.

The hope is they're healthier. The looked much improved during the pre-season, but the secondary concerns about everyone I've talked to.

Posted (edited)

The defense last year was (IIRC) top 5 in yards per play, but our offense was somewhere near the bottom (if not dead last) in TOP so they were out there way too much. The offense is going to be a lot better in that regard with Cutler.

So they should be better just from being on the field for fewer plays and for being more fresh at the end of the game as a result of that.

Add in whatever help Marinelli might be to the d-line, what looks like a substantial upgrade from Hillenmeyer (and everyone else) to Tinoisamoa, Urlacher's improved health, and what could be a pretty big upgrade at one of the CB spots with Bowman taking Vasher's spot (if he can stay healthy), and we should be better. How much better? I'm not really sure, but it should be a significant improvement.

At the very least, the defense should be top 15, and could easily be top 10, IMO.

Jeff Garcia is going to be available...

He is now, and the Bears should be making that call.

Jeff Garcia believes he is still a starter in this league, so I doubt he'll even listen to a call from the Bears.
