This team is awesome at avoiding sweeps.

That is if you believe the Mets bullpen can actually hold a lead, which I don't.

Z isn't done giving them a lead either.

True, but I don't see the Mets holding the lead.

Zambrano is so mediocre these days.

I personally don't get the hostility when people like Phil Rogers suggest we trade him. I hate Rogers, but at this point I think if we could get decent value for Z we'd be foolish not to pull the trigger.

I think he suggested cutting him.

He did, which is obviously ridiculous. I'd be all for trading him though if we could get anything whatsoever in return without having to eat much of the contract.

Absolutely. Zambrano is a 2/3 disguised as an ace, and I wouldn't cry if the Cubs dealt Zambrano.

So if we let Harden go to Minnesota for a sack of whatever, than we have a very 2006esque pitching staff next year. Dont do it Jim.

It's not like Harden's under contract for next year...or has pitched more than 150 innings since 2004.

The decision to trade Harden really has nothing to do with next year. It's about whether Minnesota can offer a package of prospects more valuable than 2 compensation picks.

I'm of the opinion that letting Harden go would be a mistake. He's a legit ace.

8 K's against Nelson Figueroa. This is like the Kevin Slowey game.

Gotta love a crappy major league journeyman setting a new career record in K's and it's only the 4th inning.

I disagree. In addition to having great stuff, a true ace has to be a reliable innings-eater. Harden has the stuff, but his injury history makes him far from reliable.

Zambrano -pitched poorly since hes been back

Dempster -back to being the Dumpster

Harden-new contract

Wells-sophmore season (jinx?)

Lilly-contract year (usually a big season)

We may have a 2006esque with him

Agreed on this point. I like Harden. When he's healthy and pitching to his potential, he's one of the best pitchers in baseball. The problem is, he just can't stay healthy for extended stretches.

I'd love to have him back next year, but I would never offer him more than 2 years.

0 for his last 18. How does this guy still have a job?

Well,Lou kept playing Soriano figuring that his slump would have to end at some point.
