Plus he made Billy Crystal look pretty bad in Spring Training. That's gotta be worth something.

I don't see the risk. I would take Kerry Wood on my team any day of the week.

Can people set aside the player-crushes and look at this realistically for a second?

Realistically it's ridiculous to pretend not offering arbitration was a good idea.

If he accepts, we have a good reliever. If he doesn't, we get 2 draft picks.

The downside is where?

I'm glad the Cubs have beaten up on the Astros this series, but it's a little bittersweet since the Astros are headed to St. Louis with a taxed bullpen.

Have they actually used important people in these two blowout games?

You would hope not...

That's probably because they are dominated by his good 2007 season.

8 million dollars that we don't have

A good reliever with an injury history as long as the Bible... Not to mention the the fact that it's just a bad appropriation of resources to pay a closer 8-10 million dollars.

Because Hendry is busy spending it on Joey Gathright, Paul Bako, Aaron Miles, Chad Gaudin, etc.

Wood is struggling in his first year in a new league, and the Cubs are for sale.

Any other stupid questions?

Guess you've got the pesky overreacting condition to deal with.

Thoughts and prayers.

Your logic has no effect on the might gooney/erik316stone tagteam.

Sure, it's not ideal. But high payroll teams can easily get away with it and succeed.

Except we don't have 8-10 million dollars to pay him, especially with him not being great this year.

Given the other constraints the team had at the time, it would have been a lousy use of funds.

Plus there's the very real possibility (actually, likelihood) that Hendry knows a lot more about Woody's shoulder than we do.

It might've been an even bigger risk than we think.

It's fun winning by a lot of runs so we can argue about stupid crap.
