I still don't think he's awful. He'd probably finish the year with an ERA between 5 and 5.25 if he started all season, which is about right for somebody who will likely always be a 6th/7th/8th starter in the majors.

 

What's your definition of awful then if it's not a guy who can't crack a starting rotation?

 

When I'm saying not awful, I'm kind of responding to the thought that the Cubs have to have somebody better than this in the minors. Obviously Hart is not a good MLB starting pitcher. For his role though, Hart is exactly what you expect, maybe even a little bit better. A guy who would be expected to give you a 6 or 7 ERA in that slot would be an awful minor league replacement (and there are several of those around the league).

So he's not an awful candidate to start 2-3 games a year? I can buy that.
