A guy on the street corner said the Cubs are players for Grienke, A-Rod, Utley, and Hoffman.

All in the same deal? Attaboy Jim.

I wouldn't do that deal. Sam Fuld is just too good to part with for anyone less than Pujols.

Also whose the last prospect we traded that has actually came back to haunt us. Maybe 2 years of Dontrelle?

Ricky Nolasco

His 5.42 ERA is haunting my dreams 8-)

Nolasco was excellent last year (3.52 ERA, 1.102 WHIP, 186:42 K:BB), but struggled to open this year.

Since a demotion at midseason, though, he's been very good again.

June: 1.91 ERA, 0.970 WHIP, 33:5 K:BB

July: 3.76 ERA, 1.101 WHIP, 35:8 K:BB

I know, I was just noting that he was absolutely putrid earlier this year. As you say he's coming around again, so we'll see if he keeps it up this time around.

Was there a reason (injury?) for how bad he was earlier this season, or did they just send himself down to "find himself" again?

Pujols would be a great addition to our bench and to sub for Lee. =D>

I'm not quite sure what it was that made him struggle earlier in the year. He wasn't injured and the demotion was just a "finding himself" period, like you said.

His K:BB ratio wasn't much worse than it is now (22:9 and 15:4 in April and May), but he gave up 35 hits in 26 innings in April and 31 hits in 17.2 innings in May. Since then he's allowed fewer hits than innings pitched in June and July - but I have no idea what he's doing differently now that he wasn't doing the first two months.

Nolasco was severely unlucky earlier this year. He had a historically low strand rate causing his ERA to be much higher than his peripherals.

Yeah, that makes sense considering he wasn't walking a lot of guys and was giving up a ton of hits. Thanks.

Although that was a pretty crappy deal but Hendry, his worst IMO. I dont think Nolasco really haunts us. So one poster says he doesnt want to see us unload the farm again and the best player we have unloaded since Dontrelle is Ricky Nolasco? I dont know about you but I think this is just more evidence that I would unload the farm for Halladay, Haren type player.
