clearly this big inning was set up by the theriot bunt.

 

I mean, I guess I could have understood it had there been a runner on first and Lou wanted to stay out of the double play. But Johnson's already on second so Theriot's not going to ground into a DP.

It is all about getting Johnson to third with Lee up and one out where basically any kind of contact ties up the game.

Especially with Theriot's tendency to hit it to the right said

 

I have a feeling it was Ryan's decision though.

Which is, in essence, playing for one run in the first inning with the top of the order up.

and theriot has good bat control and is pretty good at hitting the ball to the right side, and your #3/4 hitters both are swinging the bats well and are good threats for XBH's, plus it's the first inning of a game that looks like it might be high scoring since kevin hart is bad. but otherwise it was a terrific call.

Yep. Theriot has done this before though, I don't think its out of the question to assume he does this on his own at times.
