Against the Padres. 11 strikeouts and no walks. He had a perfect game until the 8th, broken up by an error. That was the only base runner he allowed.

how mad would you be if you were cost a perfect game because of an error? didnt some guy lose a game a long time ago despite no hits and no walks?

Not quite the same thing but Kerry Wood was robbed of a no hitter in 1998 because of Kevin Orie booting a ball and it was called a hit.

Ugh, don't remind me. IIRC, wasn't that game ranked by Bill James as the most dominant pitching performance ever?

Not only should it have been a 20K perfect game, but it was against a team that could really hit.

He hit a batter so it wouldn't have been a perfect game anyway.

As far as best game, Wood got a game score of 105 for that outing, the highest ever in a nine inning game.

I forgot.

The funny thing is that I usually watched every game, but my friend and I decided to go golfing that day instead (and it rained), and returned to see only the ninth inning.

I've probably watched 1,500 Cubs games from start to finish over the past 11-12 years, and the one I most would have liked to have seen I missed because I wanted to go golfing on a rainy day and forgot to tape it.

To this day I have not seen it in it's entirety.

Look how bad their line up really was.

Evereth Cabrera

Tony Gwynn Jr.

Kevin Kouzmanoff

Adrian Gonzalez

Chase Headley

Kyle Blanks

Eliezer Alfonso

Luis Rodriguez

Adrian Gonzalez must feel like he's back in the minor leagues.

And Matt Cain must be licking his chops in preparation for tonight's game.
