Do you have a scouting report for Eric Erickson?

 

All I know is that he was all-freshman a few years ago and had TJS recently.

Erickson is a 5-11, 170 lb left handed pitcher from Florida He's one of the most successful high school level pitchers in the country pitching at the top level of Florida HS baseball. Erickson is slender of frame but is very athletic with lots of quick twitch muscles. He pitches from a low 3/4's release point with a quick, loose arm. His 84 mph fastball seems to explode on hitters at the last minute and Erickson uses his fastball aggressively. His best pitch is a 69 mph curveball that is nasty at times, with plus, plus biting action. He also mixes in a 76 mph change up. Erickson knows how to pitch and can consistently get hitters to swing and miss. He should be very successful at the college level and can pitch at pretty much any program in the country in our opinion. Erickson is a very good student as well.

Miami junior lefthander Eric Erickson is an obvious one. He won 19 games in his first two seasons for the Hurricanes, and would have factored neatly into the early-round mix—and still might—if he hadn’t undergone Tommy John surgery in November, which will cause him to miss the 2009 season. Erickson was bothered by a tender elbow in the spring at Miami and during the summer in the Cape Cod League, and when two months of rest didn’t cure the problem, he elected to undergo the surgery. Erickson, more of a finesse pitcher than a power arm, would normally have projected as a second- to- fourth-rounder, but it’s unclear now whether a team will take a run at him in June—or wait a year.

"Eric is not overpowering ... throws in the upper 80s," Morris said. "But he has great location and movement on his fastball, curve and changeup. And that's my priority for a pitcher anyway. Location and movement are more important than velocity."

Whaley might end up at SS at Miami, so I'm on the fence as far as him with the best FB. Of course they're not going to get him, I assume. If that's the case, Trey McNutt has the best FB.
