Heh, I'm not one to buy into the whole team chemistry concept but Milton Bradley is a guy that makes you rethink that position.

Bradley's teammates have always adored him.

Definitely.

This seems rather arbitrary given that guys have been chucking crap around the dugout and smashing things all season, yet only now Lou had had enough?

The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back is not only arbitrary, but incorrigible, too.

i have never wanted a player to succeed more for the cubs than milton bradley. i've wanted him for years, and despite the fact that he was coming off a career season in a little league park, i thought his ridiculous plate discipline and intensity would only add to our already stacked offense. what a world of difference 70 games makes.

i thought milton would start the year well, and his intensity and ability would rub off, leading him to become a fan favorite in spite of his many issues. i thought he'd be something like zambrano, except only more prickly and prone to outbursts. he seemed genuinely happy to be here, and considering the phenomenal year the cubs just had, who wouldn't be? i was expecting him to be the guy that we loved, and the rest of the league despised, and couldn't wait to watch the guy hit.

all year long, i've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. i've been hoping he would get insanely hot, and carry this terrible offense in a similar way that dlee has the last few weeks. now.... it's just getting absurd. he's an ###hole, pure and simple. i've been willing to accept his significant baggage under the condition that he actually produced. yes, he's been getting hotter, but his antics have gotten to the point where even the biggest bradley apologist has to admit that we've hit something of a crossroads with him. this latest stunt is embarrassing, and a major detriment to the team. does he not understand the feedback loop he has gotten himself in? he's going to get mercilessly booed by the fans and reviled by the press, and his actions are going to become more extreme, in turn causing the fans/press/manager to get more and more frustrated until he commits a double homicide.

[expletive] this team is frustrating. i hate you milton.

Good post. I can't say it any better than that.

This could get ugly real quick.

"I have no problem with him," Soriano said. "I think he's a great guy. The only problem with him is his [combative] attitude sometimes in the game. A lot of people don't like that, but that's him."

Soriano said if Bradley "is not 100 percent to help the team, we don't need him."

The rest of the article is pretty interesting. It seems that Bradley has been having a difficult time adjusting to his new surroundings.

Check out the author. If Milton ever finally snaps, I hope that clueless hobbit is the first one he spikes in the face.

Is Soriano giving 100% on every play ? He's the same guy who says that hes just trying to stay healthy. He seems to have been babying his hamstring since 2007! I see Milton running hard to first and diving for balls in the field. I don't see the same effort from Soriano.

The seasons not all Bradleys fault! Hes being singled out and others like Soriano, Soto, Fontenot, Lee, Marmol, Heilman and Gregg are getting off the hook.

Milton Bradley.

The cherry of incompetence on top of the sundae of failure that is Jim Hendry's career.

Posted

Jim Hendry is one of the worst GM's in MLB, period.

I think Bradley is being made a scapegoat here. This is not some exciting news we are learning. This is Milton Bradley.

Dear Alphonso Soriano,

shut up and start hitting. No one cares what you think.

How do we dress Sullivan up as a Gatorade machine?

Seems to be the Jacque Jones situation all over again.

That's a horrible analogy. Jones didn't have anything like these attitude problems AND hit 27 homers his first year with the Cubs.

The guy is a first class dbag, that is all. There's a reason no one else wanted to sign him and it isn't his ability (or lack thereof this year) to hit. He's a selfish [expletive] and has rubbed everyone the wrong way throughout his career. I don't care if he's black, white, asian, or hispanic, hes a douche. Good thing we got rid of DeRosa and didn't sign Dunn to sign this guy. F him. Wonder if he'll give Hendry any of his salary after Hendry finally gets canned for wasting money on this POS.

He's putting Bradley's name in the lineup tomorrow.

Yeah! That'll show him!

Seriously, though, this one is on Hendry. This is what happens when you have tunnel vision. Guys that can catch the ball? That worked out well. Getting more left-handed? Yeah, that led to one of the worst Cubs offseasons in quite some time. He wasn't even willing to explore other possibilities even if they were better than what he had in his mind.

Hendry is to blame for putting Lou and Milton together. It's like mixing ammonia and bleach and then taking a big huff and then being surprised when you die.

I'm not really a big believer in team chemistry, but Milton Bradley is the exception to the rule.

Makes perfect sense. This is exactly how Lou handled Z after he beat the crap out of the Gatorade machine, right?

ummm...

Exactly.

Milton is no saint and his performance this year has been frustrating to say the least, but this seems like a load of crap. Dempster and especially Zambrano had what sound like much worse dugout tantrums. Hell, Marmol capped his disaster today by tossing [expletive] around the dugout.

With Dempster, it was an isolated incident, however, I agree about Z. I think it might really be to try and light a fire under Milton.

"This isn't me," Bradley told the Tribune before his confrontation with Piniella. "I've always excelled at playing baseball, and to come here and suck like I have, it's just not a good feeling. And there's really not one guy who I can sit and talk to. I've been on teams where I have guys I know, or somebody I can just vent to."

Derrek Lee has a locker next to Bradley and they speak frequently. So why not vent to Lee?

"We just don't have that bond," he replied. "'D-Lee' is cool. He's quiet. But things change. I had a good rapport with [fired hitting coach Gerald Perry]. I trusted Gerald and I could talk to him, and he's gone. I think I clicked with [ex-Cub outfielder Joey] Gathright, and he's gone. So you just kind of feel like you're on an island, and trying to stay afloat."

this isn't 2nd grade, milton.

"When you walk around, when you look in people's eyes, you don't feel worthy," he said. "That's what I see."

what a complex on this dude

If so, Lou's a moron. Milton really strikes him as the kind of guy who needs to be motivated? He looks geeked up every time he steps on the field. At least until he trips over the chalk line and snaps his arm at the elbow.

Really puts everything in perspective, don't it?

Does anybody think Bradley will come close to 27 home runs in a season with the Cubs?

JFC, I hope he turns it around but Hendry was seriously rockin the bad idea jeans all offseason.
