That one hurt. I don't mind the hits - it happens, and both Chase and Kyle are two very solid hitting talents. The walk to Eckstein was killer, though.

I know what you're saying, and I don't mind the hits either....as long as they're singles. You can't give up homers in the closer's role, and this guy is addicted to gopher balls. I'd like to know what Gregg's SLG against is this year. It's gotta be over .500. How many homers is that for Gregg? 12? The two things you cannot do as a closer is walk people and give up home runs, and Gregg has been doing both all year.

Yeah, I could live with the guys getting on base so long as the job generally got done, but he's simply giving up way too many home runs.

I'd like to think Guzman will be used instead for the time being, but knowing Lou he'll think Marmol is the guy for the job.

I'm not even mad at Gregg any more. He is what he is. I'm more pissed at Lou for constantly setting the team up for failure by using the wrong guys in the wrong situations.

Replace "Lou" with "Dusty" and replace "Gregg" with "LaTroy", "Neifi", "Remlinger", and who knows who else.

I just hate Gregg. You can show me all the stats you want, I don't care. He must go. I don't even care who is to blame, or who isn't. Same with Miles.

This is kinda where I'm at, too. With the first couple of blown saves came some disappointment. The next several blown saves were cause for much anger. Now, it's just sad.

Didn't realize that Ceda had shoulder surgery. When did that happen?

Gregg has good "stuff" but seems to make an a lot of mistakes. In any case, I'd let Guzman close. Not that it matters - 6 back with under 50 to play is a tough spot to be in.

It happened earlier this season.

I had no problem with trading Ceda, in fact it was probably a perfect sell high time. Sure, he had great stuff but he had motivation problems, MAJOR weight problems, a few shoulder injuries over the past two seasons and his control wasn't great. What did bother me was who they traded Ceda for; they should have gotten more or packaged him in a bigger trade.

:amen: How can anyone even consider Marmol ? He shouldn't even be the setup guy at this point.
