I traded away my first rounder once. Never again.

The way I see it, these teams with a ridiculous amount of points that they need to shed at the end of the season are desperate for whatever they can get for any of these players. If no one trades for these guys, they get dropped, which improves my choices in the first round.

I've also noticed that very few teams have all that much cap space to work with, so if you can have some cap space, you can land guys for dirt cheap.

Good luck getting rid of all these pitchers that gobble up 1/4 of the cap space.

Okay. Nevermind.

still a good deal for don. he can trade felix for a 1st rounder after the season in a heartbeat.

If you keep saying these things, you might even start believing them after a while. Single players have simply not been receiving that much in return.

I received Felix for Hardin.......straight up at the end of last year.

Your memory is faulty.

You received Felix in the offseason from me straight up for Beckett. I made the trade because by doing that trade I was able to save around 50 points and keep both Lackey & Beckett instead of just Felix.

I did a couple times during the offseason but wised up before this past offseason. Trading it during the season (as I did to get Miggy) is different if I'm in contention.

Dresden bound :stickman:

My summer vacation officially starts tomorrow when I fly for Dresden. So if in the next day or so I do not immediately reply to an e-mail etc... please be forgiving.

I promise the rest of Roadkill that upon arrival that my first act will be to order "ein grosses Helles" and drink the beer in Roadkill's honor.

I'm on vacation the next couple of weeks. Most of that time I'll have Internet access, but I may not for the next three days or so; during that time I'm staying in a cabin, and I don't know whether they have access or not.

Wow.. a first rounder and Posey for Vasquez and Cruz. That's a lot to give up in my opinion.

Yeah, maybe a bit much, but it managed to shore up two of my weakest areas (other than 1B), and I really like Cruz.

Likewise for my team. I was looking for picks in the draft and a top notch position player. With Wieters promoted, Posey is arguably the best catching prospect in baseball. And, I get a much needed draft pick.

They aren't household names, but by points Vasquez is a Top 15 pitcher and Cruz is a Top 10 hitter. Good enough to be keepers and enough to push Saber up a notch in the playoff hunt.

I think it will work out well for both teams.

I agree it's probably a good trade for both teams. It'll help Kevin this year and you in the long term.

By the way, I'm still willing to trade more. For instance, Hanley Ramirez may still be available for an exempt stud if anyone's interested. The offer will have to blow my socks off, and I'd prefer a bat (3b or SS). Make me an offer if you're interested.

I apologize to whomever is in Tim's division. I haven't had much time with Roadkill recently with scouting in full bloom.

Why are you apologizing? You're kicking my ass this week.

Heh, I didn't even look to be honest. I just assumed.

Well, to be honest, I'm kinda kicking my own ass as I've yet to scratch positive points from my starters combined this week. I've still got an outside shot as I've got five starters going this weekend, though.

So Magglio is being benched indefinitely according to CBS, is this grounds for me to be able to bench him in favor of someone else? Figured I would just ask first.

I'm quite sure that's OK.

I'd say yes.

Rejected by who? Isn't the idea/concept of league play to have guys actually playing?

A hurt guy doesn't play, yet we allow them to be replaced. A suspended guy doesn't play, yet we allow them to be replaced. A guy on bereavement doesn't play, yet we allow them to be replaced. A guy gets sent back to the minors doesn't play, and he can be replaced. A guy that gets benched for whatever reason doesn't play, but no, he can't be replaced.

Doesn't make any sense, Juan. Maybe you are confusing players getting benched with players sucking ass, yet still playing in the everyday line up.

And I could swear we've allowed this in the past. However, in this regard, you had to replace that player with a reserve on your roster and once the change was made, you couldn't change it back again that week.

Am I just smoking crack?

Two weeks back, I asked if I could switch out a guy who wasn't playing for a FA that was and Juan said it was OK. So I picked up Michael Bourn and dropped Chris Duncan. After I did that, though, popular opinion was that it was against the spirit of a weekly roster and shouldn't be allowed, so I benched Bourn the rest of the week (which ended up being one day) and just used him the next week.

i'm not a fan of just dropping a guy that sucks mid-week to pick up a FA replacement. i guess benching a guy who is benched in real life and replacing him with one of your reserves isn't so bad. problem is, what constitutes "sucking" and what constitutes a "benching?"

Well holy hell.. Blanks called up, and he was available, so I grabbed him. I have no idea how he wasn't on a roster. I did a search of all rosters and nobody had a placeholder for him. He's been in the system quite a long time. Must have just been overlooked?????

Nevermind... Brian dropped him in May.
