bs. no way a guy as competitive as big z would retire that early, assuming he's still effective. it's not easy to replace the ability to compete.

I actually don't doubt that Z would really go through with this.

For some strange reason, I can believe this, too.

He sure as heck will have been paid enough to be comfortable for the rest of his life.

His family probably has a picture of Jesus on one side of their mantle and Jim Hendry on the other.

agreed. What a idiot Hendry is. Zambrano sucks He's not half the pitcher Kyle Lohse is. I would've rather given that money to Jason Marquis.

Im not knocking the deal. Im just sayig he'll be able to retire in his early 30's with more money than everyone on this board will collectively see in our entire lives. Must be nice.

A - he's not even knocking Hendry

B - are you really mocking a guy for knocking Hendry when your sig is making fun of Dusty, one of Hendry's biggest failures?

Reading the article, it definitely sounds like hes serious and wants to spend time with his family. However, I coul see him unofficially retiring for a year or 2 an them making a comeback after that.

If that's what he wants to do, that's great, but there aren't too many people that are going to retire in their early 30's who can still earn $20 million per year. Taking 1 or 2 years off would certainly jeopardize his earning ability when he comes back.

Hate to say this about Z... but what an A-hole.

Seriously?

What part of wanting to get out of the big leagues in four or five years because he feels like he's missed too many mothers day's and the growing up of his children makes him an "A-hole?"

Actually, that sounds like a pretty good guy to me.

What do you want to bet that, if this article was written about Theriot or Fontenot or Johnson or somebody like that, that this thread would be full of people praising them for being great family men?
