I figure this would be a decent thread. There's a lot of rookies this year making impacts or have the potential to make impacts. With the call ups of Price and Wieters I figured having a thread to discuss not only their progress/performances but others as well would be a fun thing to do.

Personally, I'm impressed by Nolan Reimold so far. 5HR in 14 games. He reminds me of Ryan Howard when he was a rookie. Big power guy getting his first real crack at the majors at the age of 25. Hit a walk off 3-run homer the other night, hit another one tonight to give him 3 HR's in 3 straight games. Aside form Jake Fox he was arguably the 2nd best hitters in the minors so far this year. Was batting .394 with a .489 OBP and a 1.228 OPS with 9HR and 27RBI in 31 games before being called up. I think if he gets his walk rate up he could be a Ryan Howard type player for Baltimore, except Reimold doesn't appear to be too big of a strike out guy. Judging from his minor league numbers he appears to be the kind of guy who will reach 100K's a season, but not be a prolific whiffer, ala Mark Reynolds or Jack Cust. With an outfield of him, Markakis, and Jones that's gonna be a helluva lineup in the future if he ends up fulfilling his potential

Matt Wieters

Yes, it's Matt Wieters stiffy day...

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=kurkjian_tim&id=4214226

"Gee, I wonder why you're here," one Oriole said to a national writer. Another veteran Oriole said with a wry smile, but without bitterness or envy, "He is the switch-hitting Jesus."

From Rotoworld...

Orioles recalled C Matt Wieters from Triple-A Norfolk.

The shrieking of teenage girls you heard in your neighborhood can now be explained. Conventional wisdom has Wieters ticketed for immediate stardom. Wieters hit .305/.387/.504 at Triple-A this season. Set your expectations to "Excited!" If he's available in your league, what are you waiting for? HURRY! Wieters is here!

It’s hard to overstate the anticipation for Wieters’ debut, although Trembley did a pretty good job of it.

“Should we open the clubhouse at 11? Have brunch here tomorrow for everybody? Is it going to be like Duke madness out there, where people are going to be out with tents?” Trembley said. “I’m going to go out and buy pizzas for everybody, and we’re going to have a pajama party out there waiting for Wieters to come.”

I sense sarcasm and annoyance.

I wasn't being sarcastic, the internet had a huge chubby for Wieters today. Also, I'm not annoyed, I've been anticipating his arrival all year.

And he sucked tonight, lol

Just wanted to say that in the last 5 days, I picked up Wieters, Price and Scherzer off waivers in my ten-team Y! H2H league

the people in your league are idiots. scherzer i can understand being available, but wieters and price? come on.

I can't. 3.38 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 53 Ks in 50 2/3 innings? That plus the hype would make it pretty ridiculous for him not to be owned.

Reimold hit another home run tonight. 7HR in 78AB so far this season. That's a hefty number if extrapolated out to a full season (which means nothing, I know, but still)

BTW, The Oriorles are going to be frigging awesome in 2-3 years assuming some of these players are still here then... Reimold, Jones, Markakis, Roberts, Weiters, Arrieta, Matusz, Tillman, Erbe. Assuming all those players won't be traded and/or released for whatever reason, their team is going to look absurd if their young guys pan out to their potential. And if they decide to trade any of them they could get some good MLB talent in return for some of these guys from teams trying to rebuild if they deem one or two of these guys expendable. They also have that Brandon Snyder kid at 1B in AA mashing the ball (.343/.411/.605/.1016 10HR 41RBI) who might be up by then if he pans out
