Seriously Mike? Only 6 hits in May thus far? Your batting average has dipped below the Mendoza Line (joining Milton Bradley) and has dropped over 50 points this month.

Glad we determined that DeRosa was the problem last year and now we have a hole at 2B and RF.

Time to feed the foe list.

Relax this is a parody of the Milton Bradley thread except less funny. But seriously, Mike Fontenot has been abysmal this month.

Football teams and basketball teams have guards. You can't change the guards on your baseball team..... there aren't any !!

I don't understand Lou wanting to keep him in the lineup, but talking about "resting" some of the other slumping regulars. It's not like Fontenot has a proven ML career where you can be sure he will snap out of it.

Heinrich to play guard for the Bears?

How many sports have forwards besides basketball? Volleyball and Hockey both have Centers.

The other slumping stars have better backup options. Between Font, Scales, Freel, and Miles, at this point, we need 2 of them in the lineup every day. As unpalletable as it may sound, Fontenot is the closest thing to a good player out of the bunch. Even if we do give Scales the nod at 2nd and ride out whatever magic he has left, theres still a 3 headed monster at 3rd. Id rather wait for the off chance of Fontenot breaking out than wait for Freel or Miles to stop being Freel and Miles.

Soriano.

Looks like Lou is thinking about it.

I agree that Fontenot is better than Scales/Freel/Miles, but not when he's in the middle of a slump. Try Scales/Freel/Miles because they can't do much worse than what Fontenot has done in May.

I'm trying to understand how Soriano at 2nd and Miles in LF is somehow better than Soriano in LF and Miles at 2nd.

Unless I missed something, I thought it would be Soriano at 2nd and Hoff in LF.

I'm all for letting Soriano play 2b. Mostly because it gets Hoff into the lineup and at least we'd get some comedy relief watching Soriano try to play 2b again. Either way, it's better than having a black hole at 2b.

Yeah I never heard anyone suggest that as a plan.

I was a big Mike Fontenot fan last year, and I expected him to do well this year. However, at this point, out of him, Miles, Scales, and Freel, I'd stick Scales and Freel out there all the time.

Everytime I look at the line up card, Miles is on it. Why would Soriano moving to 2nd base change that?

If he wouldn't put Miles in LF, he'd probably put him at 3rd.

Since Ramirez has been out (11 games):

Fontenot (9 starts)

Scales (7 starts)

Miles (5 starts..1 was at SS)

Freel (2 starts)

Miles started more earlier in the season when he was the only backup at 3 different positions. Right now, it's an exaggeration though to say that Lou is looking for ways to get him in the lineup. He has clearly been behind both Fontenot and Scales lately, with both the number of games played and the spot in the lineup when they do play.

My hatred for the guy makes it seem like he's always on the line up card.

I'm just not enjoying watching this team. I went to last night's game, and after watching a game with Aaron Miles and Koyie Hill in the same line up, I don't care if I go to another Cub game for a very long time.

I watched them strike out 16 freaking times. Granted Peavy is awesome and he's going to get his strike outs, but they were striking out to a bunch of no name bullpen arms as well. Just pathetic.
