Nice job by Wells, Gregg sucks, and Soriano wins it. 5 in a row, and we have officially passed the Redbirds in the standings!

Yea rusty, and the intensity level isnt there in a non save situation. Uh I would think intensity would get up pretty quick when you give up 2 bombs and 2 hits.

Also, Lou says Marshall will pitch Thurs, and then we will go from there. UGHHHH In 2 weeks Marshall isnt going to be in this rotation. Id bet money on it.

Flipping this around on you, what has Wells done to merit leaving the rotation after two starts? Not giving up a run? If the guy's doing well you stick with him until he proves otherwise. Lou may like Marshall in the swing role better because he's had success there before and its a demanding job.

Marshall has done nothing to lose his job. Wells has made 2 starts in the majors, thats it. Yes he hasnt allowed a run, but hes pitched himself in and out of quite a bit of trouble. Like you said, if a guys doing well you stick with him, which is why Marshall shouldnt leave the rotation, just because Neil Cotts sucks.

I really think that Marshall could win 15 games a year with our team while putting up very good numbers in the important catergories. We are being foolish with him.

Agreed, and I've felt this way for a while now.

I mean in a way its good in that it should keep his numbers down which will help us in arbitration, but at the same time we could just use him as a starter and reap the rewards of some of our best player development.

Just trade for someone like Jamie Walker or some other team's overpaid LOOGY if you're that desperate to have a better than terrible left handed pitcher in the bullpen. Quit jerking around Marshall.

I think Marshall is a much better starter than Wells.

But I'm fine with riding Wells and putting Marshall in the bullpen for a month or two. I'm still very worried about Marshall as he gets over 140 innings. I don't think he would be able to survive the entire season in the rotation. Pitching in the bullpen for a month or two keeps his innings down and gives him a much better chance of actually being effective in August and September.

Did CSN not show Lou get into it with a fan behind home plate after he finally pulled Gregg? I looked through the game thread and didn't even see it mentioned. The Astros broadcast caught the whole thing.

Lou mentioned the exchange with the fan in the post-game media wrap and it was written up in the Chicago papers.
