Well, there's that and the fact that there's no reason to worry about wins and losses.

 

But at some point, if they just keep him around and rarely use him, there's no way he's going to harness his control.

After some period of time (I'm thinking it's 90 days, but I'm not positive) they could put him on the DL with an "injury" and send him to the minors on a "rehabilitation assignment."

 

The Cubs could do the same with Patton if he's inexplicably still on the roster then.
